wow I love that pic Randy it's like pure americana ... clear blue sky + all the hope that Christmas/New Year signifies hitting you all at once - George
I see the odd decoration too... but the funny part for me was mis-reading the sign... my mind saw and read 'Pre-Historic,' not 'Pre-1937 Historic...' Lol...
Your pic is a nice surprise this morning. My town of Yukon where I live in Oklahoma, is located along the 'Mother Road' which went from Chicago to Santa Monica.
Very nice picture Randy! It doesnt look like christmas around here with cold and grey weather and snow.. that blue sky is fantastic! Greetings and a happy 2012! Yvonne & Raphael

Always a rather a sad and deflating time of year and the old decorations only add to the sombre mood. Good picture though.
Chrissy at Manchester: a photo a day at Mancunian Wave
i noticed someone still had their christmas tree up this morning when i took my littlest guys to school. i took everything down the day after lol
You know what they say, when the snowflakes get big then the snowing is about to stop. :-)
Your shots of the snowflakes are delightful and a reminder of times past... This Route 66 sign is great!

I think that it would be nice if some of the decorations remained for just a wee bit longer!
I bet it's not the only snowflake on Route 66.
In KL, it is now change to Chinese New Year decorations!
"Get your kicks on Route 66"!!

Ahh, it's the time of year to take down the decorations. It seems to take some motivation to get them all down in a timely manner.
That's a cool photo, though. I love the "rust" colored sign against the blue sky. Good ol' Route 66.
Cool! Route 66 also runs through Okalahoma City, my hometown!
I like this a lot. We drove Route 66 several times between Arizona and the Midwest...but not pre-1937...more like late 50s!
Sweet!
I'm liking that sign too!
love the route 66 signage!
I love Route 66 and all of the nostalgia behind it. That is a neat shot!
I think they've forgotten all about that lonely snowflake Randy!
How fun that they still linger! I like the Route 66 sign as well. =)
It is the route 66 sign that caught my eye too! Great catch of the snow flake with it.

Actually my attention was caught by the Route 66 sign as I would love to travel there.
Nice find!
Have a wonderful weekend!
I LIKE IT. Here we know someting about this road.
Good shot.
I am just reading Billy Connolly's book of his journey on Route 66. Would love to do that journey! Great shot.
