Snow and Desert

This is not a combination that most people think about when they think of New Mexico. We are however at at 7500 ft in elevation so we do get our fair share as you have seen in past post. I love the look of the two in this shot. The smell of the Juniper in the cold was amazing.

Now you're making me want to take a quick trip to southwestern Colorado where our daughter lives...

Beautifully composed photo!

You are right - there is something about the foliage of the Southwest that smells unbelievable. I love it.

Such a contradiction Randy, looks good..I don't know whether it's because I need something sweet to eat, but the snow looks like white icing flowing between the rocks!!

Randy, I love these snow scenes.

Beautiful shot Randy. Every now and then we get to see a fleeting frosting of snow here in the desert and I love to see it settled on the cactus.

I think it makes a nice combination. Something you don't see every day!

This would make a terrific holiday or note card. As you say, many people are surprised to hear that there is snow in Santa Fe. Most Christmas cards feature snow-laden fir trees but this would be different but very genuine! It's a beautiful representation of the winter terrain.

You take the most exotic images lately!

I have always loved the contrast between the two. Great job of describing the day also.

I'm loving your header photo. Makes me want to sit right there. I guess, I would have to pull up a chair...I'm assuming it's yours. Got to love rocky hikes with snow. I didn't realize Santa Fe was that high! =)
