Vintage Sign

There are some really great vintage signs alone Central Avenue.
Here is a little info from there site. "Hiway House was a motor hotel chain founded in 1956 at Phoenix, Arizona by the late Del Webb, a construction magnate who owned the New York Yankees baseball team and later created the Sun City retirement communities. A remnant of the old Hiway House chain is still in operation at Albuquerque, New Mexico."

I like these old things back in time to rock and roll, good movies and a style that's fun.
Greetings.

I remember these! Thanks for the reminder.

Love the icon of yesteryear on the sign. Old motels certainly are relics of the past; this one is special!

There's a name from the past, Del Webb. There certainly is a legacy of Webb in and around the Phoenix area. That name also made me think of John F Long. Another prolific builder in the Phoenix area.

That's a fun, old sign. I enjoy being able to "play tourist" by looking at your photos. I especially like the historical tidbit.

This is why I don't like "vintage" stuff and antique shops. I grew up with all of these things which means I'm "vintage" and an "antique." :-)

We drove Route 66 when traveling from Minneapolis to Phoenix several times and finally moved to Phoenix in 1959.

Stone Creek, where we live now, is a Del Webb community!

What a terrific sign, Randy. They don't make 'em like this any more. Interesting to think that this is where Del Webb got his start.

This is just classic USA for us Europeans. Straight out of the movies. I like the way they are modest enough to say their rooms are only "nice":-)
