The Sandia Mountains

This is a view of the Sandia mountains from my walk along Central Avenue. Here is a little clip from Wikipedia about the Sandia mountains.

The Sandia Mountains (Tiwa Pueblo) name posu gai hoo-oo, "where water slides down arroyo"[1]) are a mountain range located in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, immediately to the east of the city of Albuquerque in New Mexico in the southwestern United States. The range is largely within the Cibola National Forest, and part of the range is protected as the Sandia Mountain Wilderness. It is home to the Sandia Peak Ski Area. Its highest point is Sandia Crest, 10,678 feet (3,255 m)

The colors painted throughout your town are just wonderful, Randy. Switz uses primarily white or beige... so sad...

Are the Sandia Laboratories around there?

All of the mountain ranges in New Mexico are worthy of photograghing. I especially love the tram that goes up the side of Sandia. Fun to ride.

Have a relaxing and wonderful week-end!

Love those mountains and i know them well, I have hiked all over them, skied them when winter snow was great and knew my city directions because of them. At sunset they turn a rich purple. I lived within 5 minutes of the foothills. Great hiking.

I have seen these many times driving through Albuquerque. Didn't realize the peak was that high, though!

Hope your weekend is starting off with a bang!

One of the things that I loved the most about moving to Phoenix all those years ago was the view of mountains in almost every direction.

That looks so beautiful Randy. Love the colours also of the shop fronts that you have captured here. Looks like it is cool there (how nice for us in Perth) and a nice place to be. Have a wonderful Sunday.
