Market Basket

It's Farmers Market day and if you forget your bags you can purchase one of these colorful baskets to carry your produce. I like the colors but just can't see myself carrying one. That is why I always carry my bags.

Sleeping in the Snow.

I came across this tent on my hike back down the mountain. I hope they brought a few blankets.

Still Sleeping

I don't think these Aspens knew that Spring had arrived. There wasn't a single bud on any of the trees that we saw on our hike over the weekend. Maybe in a few weeks, until then sleep tight.

Cold Water

It was a nice warm day yesterday. I decided to go for a hike and was surprised by the amount of snow up on the mountain. I caught this on one of my favorite trails. I hope you all have a great start to your week.

I caught this reflection off the windows of the Lew Allen Gallery in the Railyard. It's Spring so that means weekend trips to the Farmers Market. I hope your doing something fun on your Sunday. Enjoy.

Purple Gate

Not a color you see that often here on a gate. As you all know by now they are usually Turquoise. I guess the museum wanted something different. I hope you all have a wonderful Friday and a great weekend.

There is a small sculpture garden in front of the Children's Museum. I could not find the name to this piece. I found it to be a little disturbing for a children's museum.

Cow Wash?

This spotted little cow was near the entrance of the Children's museum. Not sure what the sculpture was all about so I think it was a cow wash.

Is anyone else having a problem with Blogger and posting? It's making me nuts. If I missed a visit to your blog yesterday it's because I could access your blog.

Kiddie Walkway

This is the walk way that leads to the entrance of the Children's museum. I like the strip with the kids holding hands. It reminded me of the children's game Red Rover.

Museum Entrance

This is the entrance of the Santa Fe Children's Museum. This is where the mobile gallery was parked so I took a quick strolled around and took a few shots. Oh and some of you asked if I had my photo taken, yes I did. Oh and I was not holding my camera, it was too predictable.

Is That You?

I've shown you this mobile gallery (Axle Contemporary Gallery) before. Recently they did a week long project where they would take your picture with something that means lot to you. They would then post the photos on the van and on their website. In May all of the photos will be on display at Site Santa Fe as part of an exhibit. They will also choose some that will become part of a book. It was a great community project.

Soup

We have a great eatery close to my home. Sup offers soups, fresh bread, sandwiches and salads. It offers new soups everyday and they are quite tasty. Wishing everyone a great weekend and a Happy St. Patricks Day.

While I was walking along in Albuquerque I came across this rather large mural. This is only part of it and tomorrow I will show you the other.

Campus Sculpture

This is one of the many sculptures found on the University of New Mexico campus. It's a steel sculpture called Cultural Crossroads of the Americas by Bob Haozous. You can't miss it as your driving by.

Left Behind

Just before I shot the photo of the young man from last Monday (who by the way is in the background of this shot), I noticed that someone had left their coffee on this bus bench. Something I think a real coffee lover would never forget.

It's my birthday today so I think I will treat myself to a Starbucks before heading to work. I hope everyone has a great week!

Parking

The Sandia Mountains

This is a view of the Sandia mountains from my walk along Central Avenue. Here is a little clip from Wikipedia about the Sandia mountains.

The Sandia Mountains (Tiwa Pueblo) name posu gai hoo-oo, "where water slides down arroyo"[1]) are a mountain range located in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, immediately to the east of the city of Albuquerque in New Mexico in the southwestern United States. The range is largely within the Cibola National Forest, and part of the range is protected as the Sandia Mountain Wilderness. It is home to the Sandia Peak Ski Area. Its highest point is Sandia Crest, 10,678 feet (3,255 m)

Happy Hour

Another chance shot. This young woman was ready for happy hour at Zinc Wine Bar & Bistro in Albuquerque. Well almost, a brown purse with a black dress. Isn't that a faux pas? I hope the hours in your weekend are happy ones.

Kurt's Camera Corral

Now here is a place I am sure we would all love to shop in. I wasn't sure what kind of store it was but I saw that awning from a distance and I had to check it out. So glad I did. I would love to see that neon lit up at night.

Vintage Sign

There are some really great vintage signs alone Central Avenue.
Here is a little info from there site. "Hiway House was a motor hotel chain founded in 1956 at Phoenix, Arizona by the late Del Webb, a construction magnate who owned the New York Yankees baseball team and later created the Sun City retirement communities. A remnant of the old Hiway House chain is still in operation at Albuquerque, New Mexico."

Welcome to Albuquerque

This weekend I rode the train down to Albuquerque on a little photo excursion. I walked along Central Avenue which used to be part of Route 66 from 1937 to 1985. While I was taking a picture near the university I heard some say "Hey, take my picture!" As soon as I took his photo this kid darted across the road and disappeared. This week I will be sharing some of my shots from my walk. Wishing you all a great start to your week.
