I shot this as I entered on of the artist homes in Dixon. That blue gate caught my eye the minute I walked into the yard.

Sleeping Under The Stars

There is a road in Dixon that has one ceramic studio that I like to visit. While I am there I always walk down the road a little further to the river. This time I saw something hidden among the trees. As I walked down a little further I came across this tee pee. Wouldn't this be a great place to sleep outside under the stars?

Studio Mate

This beautiful dog would not be bothered with the visitors to his owners studio. He decided to just take it easy and nap while everyone else looked at the artwork inside. I hope you all have a peaceful Sunday.

Old Door

I like old doors like this with it's rustic appearance and spots of color. I found this on an abandoned house in Dixon.

Vogel Studio

This is the doorway to Jim Vogel's studio in Dixon. I wish I could have taken some shots of the inside but it was a full house. To see a sample of some of his paintings click here.

Blue Window

I could not resist taking a photo of this old window. It is part of an old adobe building that belongs to an well known artist here in northern New Mexico. I'll show you another photo and share a link to a local gallery that carries his artwork. Until then.

Dixon

This is part of the small little town of Dixon. You can see the old church to the right and a nice adobe wall in the foreground. The studio tour attracted a pretty big crowd and it was a miracle that I was able to capture this shot minus the crowd.

Empty Studio

While out on the Dixon Studio tour I came across this empty studio. I remember seeing artwork there the year before. I would love to have this little space. It could be my summer blogging studio, ha wishful thinking.

First Snow

Yesterday we woke up to a little dusting of snow. It was in the forecast for the whole day but this was all that we received. It will come soon enough whether we're ready for it or not.

This is part of the home and gallery behind the apple orchard that I have been sharing with you. The older part of the home is made of adobe. I really like this part of the house but it would be hard to hang art work.

You Make My Day Bright.

Every have one of those days? Well for me it's been one of those weeks. It's just been that kind of week where things just aren't working out, even my homework just seems to be giving me fits. The other day I even thought " I just can't blog anymore." I've been at it for 7 years now. Then I visit your pages and it all goes away.

I can't tell you how thankful I am for all of you. "You make my days bright." Have a good Friday and a super weekend.

Acequia

This Acequia (waterway) was in front of the house from the first gallery stop. I guess this is what they use to water the apple orchard. Wouldn't it be nice to hear the sound of the water from your house?

Orchard View

This is the view of the apple orchard as you turn around from here I was standing in the first shot. I am not sure how many acres there were but it was pretty big.

Golden Cargo

This was another cart that was parked closer to the house and studio. As you can see there were no apples here only the golden leaves of Fall in the cart and all over the ground.

Old Cart

As I walked along the long driveway from yesterdays shot I came across this old cart. I'm sure in it's day it was used to carry the apples that during harvest season.

A Day in Dixon

Yesterday I spent the day in Dixon for the 2012 Dixon Studio Tour. One of my favorite studios sits behind a huge apple orchard. I always look forward to walking along this long drive through the apple orchard to the artist home.

Blanket, Baskets & Rugs.

There is no shortage of Native American rugs and blankets around town. This is a shop right down the street from the plaza and near St. Francis so needless to say it's quite a tourist stop.

Ghostly Reflection

Theme Day: The Waters Edge

I can't believe it's November already, but here we are at another Theme Day on City Daily Photo. This month's theme is "The Waters Edge." While up on Aspen Vista I stopped at a small creek the runs down the mountain. On this trip I just happened to see these Aspen leaves gathered around the edge of the creek.
