Skating In Pink

Ok this is the end of the Pink theme. After the first attempt at asking someone for their photo I got brave and asked another person and I am glad I did. Not only was her outfit something not to be missed I thought she had a lovely shy smile. And get a load of those great skating tights!

Wanted

This young man was out trying to get people to do the responsible thing, getting tested for HIV at the Pride event. He was kind enough to pose for this shot for me. I was actually surprised that I even asked I am normally shy when it comes to people shots.

Party Outfits

These two were dress for a day of fun at the festival. As Time Gunn from Project Runway would say, "Make it Work."

Not All Were Gay or Happy?

I missed the Pride parade on Saturday, but I sure caught the heated tail end. There was a small group of four shouting some pretty bad stuff for being God loving people. Good thing the police were around. I hope you all have a good start to your week.

Fire update: The fire is still burning but that's not the worst of it. We now have a new fire to the west of us. This one is on the Jemez mountains and is burning really fast. The plume of smoke was so large that it covered the sky to the north so quickly that both plumes just became one. I would give anything for some rain.

Elton's Glasses

Yesterday after the Farmer's Market I decided to cruise through the Gay Pride event at the Railyard park. I caught this shot of this guy with his Elton John style glasses and Marilyn Monroe t-shirt near the entrance. It was pretty hot outside so it was a pretty quick cruise but I did manage to get some interesting photos.

Picasso Is In Town

The LewAllen Gallery at the Railyard currently has an exhibition of 23 Picasso etchings. I love the location of this gallery. I can shop at the Farmer's Market and take in some art on a Saturday morning. I haven't been yet but I might have to stop by today.

High In The Sky

Yesterday as I was leaving work I saw people pointing to the sky. To my horror I saw this plume of smoke growing with every second. It appears that the fire found more to burn and really fast. As of yesterday the fire was 10 percent contained. I am sure by morning that number will not have grown. I hope you all have a peaceful weekend.

Open

I love old wooden screen doors. They bring back fond memories of my grandparents house and the "Kids don't slam the door" comment. I found this at a gallery/coffee shop.

Old Bench

This big bench sits in front of a gallery on Canyon Road. I really like the flowers in the planter behind it. It's a nice place to sit and watch people enjoying the galleries.

Piggy Back

Sometimes we all need a little lift. I caught this while out and about. Where else, but Canyon Road.

Pre-Smoke Filled Sky

This weekend we had an Arts and Crafts fair on the plaza as you can see the sky was beautiful on Saturday before the fire started. Yesterday the skies were horrible. According to some news the fires is headed north east in to the Pecos wilderness area with zero containment.

Bad News

We have a fire on our Sangre De Cristo mountains. When it first started I was on my way home and you could see the tall flames before all of the smoke set in. An hour later I shot this while on my walk on Canyon Road. I came across a man who was just staring into the distance. He told me there had not been a fire like this since the 70's. He was sad and remarked how humbling something like this is. As I continued my walk I was amazed at how this persons sadness had touched me. I hope to wake up to some good news but the winds are blowing and all I can do is hope that something will save our beautiful mountains. Wishing you all a peaceful Sunday.

Sunset on San Francisco Street.

One of my favorite places to be when the sun is going down. San Francisco street will lead you into downtown and to the plaza. It's a great street to tourist watch too.

Rust & Reflection

Across the street from yesterdays post are the Lena Street Lofts. The Treehouse Pastry Shop and Cafe are part of this business complex. While on my way there I caught sight of this reflection in the window. I also love the rusted siding on this part of the complex. Wishing you all a marvelous weekend!

Green River Pottery

Found this shot in my archives as you can see Spring had not sprung yet. Green River Pottery is a local pottery studio gallery close to my work. They have nice work that you can see here. At first I was drawn by the colorful building.

Just a Touch of Color

Site Santa Fe is a non-profit Contemporary Arts organization that sits in the Railyard district and across from the Farmer's Market. While walking around I caught sight of the turquoise color on the slab next to the side entrance. I just had to add it to my photo collection.

Twins

As I was leaving the Farmer's Market this weekend I came upon these to twin scooters. Made me wonder if there is a scooter in my future.

Adobe Wall

What do you do when a tree is blocking the spot where you want to build you wall. Simple build around it. I know most wouldn't but I was happy to see this homeowner did. Here's hoping there are no walls from blocking a good week for you.

Stop and Listen

On the weekends you can always find something going on on the plaza. Everything from tourist shopping, skateboarders, people reading and on this day a little acoustic music. I love the weekends on the plaza

A Saturday Buddy

This is one thing I wish I had to cruise around town in. Lately I am seeing more and more Buddy's around. It's probably because of the high price of gas.

Sunset on the Inn

I love the rich colors of sunset. This is the Inn on the Alameda, a very popular place for travelers. It's a block away from Canyon Road and just a few short blocks to the Santa Fe plaza. I love the strands of red chile hanging on the sides of the building.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Beauty In Stone

I was out walking around the plaza the other day and stopped when I saw this window display at Ortega's On The Plaza. So many beautiful things, not enough money. Maybe that's a good thing.

Decorative Seating

If you not looking for comfort but really want a decorative seat you can get a bench like this one. This is a new bench outside one of the galleries on Canyon Road. I really like the Southwest scene below the seat. Could you see this on your patio or yard?

Please Wind Blow!

While out on my walk yesterday evening the smoke from the fire in Arizona starting moving in even more fierce than other days. This is what the sky looked like as I came around the corner. I wish the wind would just take it away but that it would stay away from Arizona. Now we just pray for rain.

Around The Corner.

I was having lunch downtown this weekend. Just before going around the corner to the Palace of the Governors I caught sight of this man in his Western wear. I think it was a vintage shirt but one never knows. Click on it for better look. Have a good start to your week.

Walking on Alameda

Yesterday our blue skies where covered by the smoke from the large fire in Arizona. I was almost afraid I wouldn't get my walk in. Luckily the winds came in and cleared the air in the early evening. I caught this while walking along the Santa Fe river on Alameda street. Have a peaceful Sunday!

Saturday Sculpture

I am not sure who the artist is but I love this silver bird sitting proudly on this metal cactus at the Wilford Gallery on Canyon Road. I just wanted to bring a little sparkle to your day.

It's Friday, Lets Dance!

This dancing sheep sculpture is a new fun piece at the entrance of Canyon Road. While walking by I caught sight of the back end and it was not pretty so I had to check out the other side. Wishing you all a great weekend!

225 CR

225 Canyon Road is on of the first galleries you see when you enter from the east end. I like their sign and the rock wall in front of it. Click on the photo for a better look of the yellow sculpture behind the trees.

Theme Day: Under Construction

Time for another theme day here on CDP and this month's theme is "Under Construction." Not all things are in the state of beauty on Canyon Road. This building which I think will be a gallery or a really nice home is in the process of a face lift with some new stucco and what looks to be the start of a nice window.

Don't forget to see what is under construction around the world:
