Hike #2

The air was cool on the day of the hike but as we climbed higher it became crisp and cold. As air became thinner in the higher elevation and colder it got you felt more alive with every breath. Maybe not for this tree lying in the snow. It did however look like it was reaching for the sunlight.

My Favorite Time

The last few weekends we have spent hiking the Atalaya trail on the east side of the city. Atalaya mountain is 9121ft in elevation and the hike takes about 2 hours to the top. I love it because it's so close to my home yet when your climbing the silence is just wonderful. During the next week I will be posting photos from my hike. I hope you enjoy.

Adobe Studio

While at a small studio opening I came across this little adobe studio. The artist is from out of state and comes here periodically to work on this great little spot. I thought it would be a perfect little blogging studio, what do you think?

Smile, It's Friday!

While out on a hike last weekend I came across this smiling little stick figure on the trail. I thought he would be a perfect way to express how I felt that day and even more so today. Enjoy your weekend everyone and as always thanks for spending a little of your time here on my blog!

And More Clouds.

“A cloud does not know why it moves in just such a direction and at such a speed...It feels an impulsion...this is the place to go now. But the sky knows the reasons and the patterns behind all clouds, and you will know, too, when you lift yourself high enough to see beyond horizons.” Richard Bach

Cross in the Sky.

This cross sits upon a Catholic church in Galisteo a wonderful little town south of Santa Fe. The clouds were floating by in this perfect blue sky and I could not resist the shot. Today would have been my father's 72nd birthday, this post is for him.

Twins!

I saw these two driving around a while back and I didn't have my camera with me. The other day while out shopping there they were. Good thing I had my camera with me then. I wonder if I would have noticed them if they were just some plain ordinary colors you see on cars nowadays?

River of Ice

Although most of our snow is gone there are still some icy areas, like the Santa Fe river. What little water is in there is still just ice. We were supposed to get snow today but it passed us by again. I am starting a class at the community college this evening so if I don't get back to everyone today I will stop by your blogs on Tuesday.

Howdy Partner!

I was out in Galisteo a few weekends ago and as I was walking past this horse corral I saw this metal cowboy getting ready to lasso someone or something. Glad it wasn't me. The day was perfect, with the green Junipers and and the blue sky it almost felt like Spring.

El Nicho

El Nicho is a wonderful little shop in the downtown area. It's full of work by local artisans. The first things that attracted me to this place was the color of these old doors. Happy Saturday everyone!

Red Star

Not sure what it meant, just something that caught my eye while walking around town.

Royal Rose

It's not every day that you find royalty in the garbage and I don't make it a habit of looking at garbage everyday for a good photo. Some how this box from some vegetables caught my I as I was getting in my car. I guess there can be enchanting photo opportunities everywhere you look.

Snow Cap?

Click on this one for a better look. I don't know that I would wear this hat, would you? Looks like something you would see on Elizabeth Taylor.

City of Lights

While at lunch yesterday I caught this light shining through my glass. I loved how it illuminated the table and the book I just bought. Funny it was shining on a book about Paris, the city of lights.

Stillness

End Of The Road

It's the end of the week and the beginning of a three day weekend. We were supposed to get snow yesterday but it past us by again so I am posting the last of my snow photos. I wasn't planning on taking this shot but that morning I actually got stuck in the snow and thought, why not? Good thing I have a four wheel drive. Have a great weekend everyone!

Warmth Beyond The Gate.

As I have said before I just love the look of adobe in the snow. I think the old gate adds to the overall beauty of the shot.

Headed Home.

On my way home every evening I can count on seeing the end of the train headed south to Albuquerque. Today I thought, I can't wait to see the tail end of this week go by just like this train. Happy Wednesday!

My Wish For The World.

While walking to the market on Saturday I caught sight of this frog sending out his intention to everyone who sees him. This is my wish for the world, hey one can hope.
Have a good week everyone!

Snow Hike.

While hiking out in the snow the sun was going down and the snow suddenly had this blue tint to it. I was reminded of a quote that I once read by Andrew Wyeth, "I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure in the landscape - the loneliness of it - the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it - the whole story doesn't show."

Walking To Market.

It's Saturday and these three are headed to the Farmers Market. I shot this one a few weeks ago before the market took a holiday break. It starts up again today so I will have to head down to see what there is to find. Enjoy your day!

Stop I'm Blushing.

Click on this one for a better look. I am not sure what kind of tree it is but I amazed by the red tone in the bark. I just thought it was blushing because I was taking it's photo. Happy Friday to you all, enjoy your weekend!

Glow

As I was walking around town I noticed this little tree, bare but still looking lovely and full of lights in front of the Lew Allen Gallery near the railyard. Even in the cold the lights still filled me with warmth. Do you still have lights around your city or town?

Cold Seat.

People were probably standing while waiting for the bus as opposed to arriving at work with wet seats after seeing this bench. Good thing there is a covered bus stop directly behind it.

The Flea.

During the summer months our flea market known as The Flea is an outdoor market. In the winter months you will find it indoors at one of the railyard buildings. You sure can't miss this sign if you were looking for the market.

Elephant Walk.

Lets start the week with something different, an elephant in the snow. Elephant Walk is a Kinetic Steel Wind Sculpture by Fredrick Prescott Enjoy your Monday everyone!

Peaceful Morning Light

I love the morning light after an evening snow. It's gray out most of the time but the stillness and quiet of that morning are so peaceful that I get filled with hope of a good day. Hope your Sunday is a good one.
