From the Fiesta website: "Each spring the Fiesta Council holds a contest in which local men and women compete to secure the popular roles of General Don Diego de Vargas and La Reina de la Fiesta de Santa Fe ™. The prospective contestants are judged on delivering an English and Spanish speech, and are questioned, in both English and Spanish, on their knowledge of historical events surrounding the Fiesta de Santa Fe.

You live in such a special, interesting place, Randy. I'm always happy to see and read your posts about Santa Fe. Thanks!

That's some brilliant blue.
That is a lot of royal blue!
Those two little kids on the left don't look like they are having much fun.
Like the idea of having not only beauty, but the contestants must have knowledge of the history of what they represent!
Goodness me, so they don't have to just look pretty thy have to be smart too..hope they remembered their facts :)
You live in such a fun city!
A feast in blue, for now...
Love the blue dress well I like blue.
With all the 'Blues', glad it was not a Monday !
I wonder if any other city has as many festivals and parades and fairs, etc., as Santa Fe.
Such a "royal" idea to remind everyone every year of History!
Good party Randy!
Gorgeous blue color!
