First Day Hike

Yesterday I went on usual my usual snow hike. As I walked to the trail I passed by this wall that is part of a very nice development of some expensive homes. The hike was pretty tough because of the snow but I made it to the top. Unfortunately on the way down I took pretty good spill and I will probably be pretty sore by morning. Snow isn't as soft when there is a big rock underneath.

Oooo, bummer! Landing on a rock is the worst! Hope you're not feeling too sore now. Happy New Year!

Love the wall -- so Southwestern in it's appearance.

Happy New Year Randy!

We had a rainy start of the year, one more reason to appreciate some snow...

Ooh Randy, Hope you're ok!!! I took a spill in September. Broke my hand and then had surgery. Just got my cast off on Monday. I don't bounce...

We used to take an annual hike up Thumb Butte every January second for my husbands birthday but had to stop doing that a couple of years ago. He is 77 today and falling on the trail is not an option anymore.

The day looks so crisp and cold, beautiful image but hope you recover from rock landing!

Ouch! Glad that you weren't seriously injured. Things like that happen so fast and there isn't anything you can do about them! I speak from experience!

Pretty pic, though!

Gosh, Randy, I hope you're not as sore as you thought you might be. The photo you took is once again crystal clear evidence of the beauty and photo opportunities that surround you.

Thanks for letting me know which image you liked better.

Great photo Randy, hope your not too injured. I often hike in the snow & you just never know sometimes what is underneath! : )

I like the curve of that wall. Still sore?!

Oh no Randy, that would have been so jarring. I guess you just never know what's lurking under the snow..good thing it wasn't at the beginning of the hike oui!

Oh, man, sorry you took a spill. Hope you're doing ok. Do you use shoe chains or yak traks? I use those & hiking poles they help, but still I sometimes end up on my butt. My knee is still recovering from 3 weeks ago.
:( no snow hike for awhile, so I will live vicariously thru you. :)
