Spanish Market #1

The Spanish Market has a variety of things to see. There are the traditional artists, the contemporary artist and the Youth Market. Our first stop every year is the Youth market and to see this young artist Jonah Boudreau. He is a Retablo artist and this is the piece "Guardian Angel" that we purchased from him this year. We started a collection of his artwork since our first market 4 years ago. We love to see the way he has grown as an artist and a very gracious young man.

Walks Among the Stars

This sculpture by artist Dave McGary is one of my current favorites on Canyon Road. I love the appearance of movement on her outfit and also the turquoise color. Have a great Saturday.

Big Smile!

It's Friday! Now that alone should make you smile. These sculptures used to be at the entrance of Canyon Road. They now sit next to another gallery mid-way down the road.
Wishing you all a very happy Friday and here is hoping it goes fast and that your weekend is a good one.

4 R

I happened to be walking around the Railyard as the railrunner came in and dropped off it's riders. During the week the ridership is pretty light but this weekend promises to be a busy weekend for the station. It's time for the 60th annual Spanish Market. Promises to be a great photo opportunity.

Modern In An Old City

One last Dulce shot. I'm usually not a fan of modern furniture but these colorful pieces really caught my eye. I like the old 50's style tile work too. Hope everyone's week is going well.

Have Your Cake

This is one of the painting inside of Dulce the coffee shop from yesterday. I was trying to be strong and was not going to indulge in something sweet but this painting was that one thing that pushed me over the edge. The bread pudding with caramel sauce and whipped cream was delicious.

Dulce

When out and about on the weekends I try to support some of the small businesses in town. Dulce is a wonderful little coffee shop that serves some of the best desserts. It's a nice place to take a good book and enjoy a good cup of coffee or tea.

Answered Prayers

Yesterday we got a pretty good rain storm, unfortunately it was only in one part of town. When I got home we only got a few sprinkles but there is a chance for more. I guess a little somewhere in town is better than none at all. Enjoy your Sunday!

Cloud Reflections

Lately the clouds have been just floating by the city without leaving a drop. I caught this reflection while walking to the Farmer's Market on Tuesday. Last night we got a little bit of rain and it cooled things down nicely.

From one minute to the next.

I went out for my walk the other day and didn't see anything worth shooting. After that I walked into our Trader Joe's grocery store and when I came out I saw this. Good thing I had my camera with me. Have a wonderful Friday everyone!

Folk Art Market Finale

One of the last things I did before leaving the Folk Art Market was to take in some entertainment. There were different musical groups and music from all over the world. These ladies were accompanying an African Drumming group. Looked like quite a work out.

Body Painting

I think these artist had the longest line of people waiting too see them at the Folk Art Market. I watched them for a while as they painted Henna tattoos on many of the guests. I was so focused on what she was doing that I hadn't even noticed the photographer on the other side of these two women until this evening as I was posting this. I hope you have a great Monday!

And The Winner Is...

Last May prior to the end of the semester at the Santa Fe Community College the director of the Media department came into our class to announce that the college was opening a student run gallery that would show work from students and faculty. She also stated that there would be a contest to design the logo which would be used for the gallery and all marketing materials. I entered the contest on a whim and to my surprise I won! This is photo of the opening from last Friday, it was a really nice turn out and there was some great art to see.

You all know how much time I spend walking along this street and the funny thing is that when I first came to Santa Fe over 10 years ago this was the very first building I stood in front of when I arrived in town. Funny how things happen.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Artist Parade # 5

This is the mask artist from Puerto Rico. I love the colors of the mask but I think it would be a little heavy on the head for Halloween.

Empty

While in Madrid over the weekend I was shocked to find one of my favorite galleries was gone. I love the adobe wall they had put up and the colors always draw you eyes in. Great space if anyone is looking to start an art space in a funky old mining town.

4th of July

Saturday we were in Madrid looking through the art galleries. I caught sight of these signs all over town. Due to the fires burning around the state fireworks are banned due to the dry conditions and to protect the state from any more fires. I am just happy to have today off, fireworks or no fireworks. For those celebrating, enjoy the day and be safe. Happy Monday to all.

At first sight this look like the entrance of a church. It is in fact the front entrance to a gallery on Canyon Road. Wishing everyone a peaceful Sunday.

Fire Update: As of a few hours ago the first fire was reported to be 55% contained and the second and largest fire is 6% contained. We have a chance of rain over the next few days. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Theme Day: Green

Another Theme Day has come around again. Today's theme is: Green. I was going to try an capture something having to do with the environment but as I was walking through a parking lot last weekend I saw this wonderful old Chevy truck and I couldn't resist the shot.

Please take a look at all of the various Green objects from around the world:
