How would you like to wear this beautiful shawl this winter? This is the product of weaving artist D.Y. Begay click on the link to read more about her. As you can see she won first place for it. I would love that pattern in a jacket.
I can see why you like this pattern, Randy. It is so simple and understated. The bold red is lovely with that soft, earthy green. She makes such beautiful things.
I looked at several websites about this woman on the Internet. She has taken Navajo weaving to a new and modern level. She has some absolutely stunning works. I see that she raises her own sheep for her craft. It was also wonderful to see that she is young so it's nice to know that young Navajos are perpetuating their native crafts.
I bought a Native coat when I was here last winter, and, altho I love it, it is no match for this beauty. Whenever I am in Santa Fe, I am awed by Native American and Hispanic art and talent. This is a fine example! Great shot, Randy!
It is gorgeous, Randy. Gosh I wish I could have gone. Dang it. I will have to make a point of it next year. I wanted to see Lonnie Vigil's work in person since I've heard so much about his micaceous pots. I am sure there was MUCH wonderful work there. Can't wait to see more.
It's beautiful! I can definitely see why she won first place. I agree with Kathy. I like to see the young people of a culture continuing the crafts and skills of the past.

It seems a poncho to me, and I would like to wear it! It's a lovely pattern.
With those crosses it almost looks like a priest's vestment.
Very pretty, though.
Very stylish! It's a beautiful red.
La verdad es que es muy original
Saludos
The winter here would render this shawl useless, I'm afraid. hahaha
i love the colors too.

Now since I adore Pendleton wool and all things Native American which includes my husband, how could I not want this absolute beauty??? :-)
Looks as warm as it is attractive. I would spend sooooo much money at this market! (if i had it that is)

Wonderful! I think that weavers are the most underpaid craftspeople - their work takes so long to do!
Some lovely work at this market I see. This looks rather ecclesiastical.
Oh I would love this shaw. Beautiful!
Nice.. I love the pattern too, Randy!

Gorgeous work! I would like to see more.
This is gorgeous... I would wear that in a heart beat...

Beautiful shawl and nice photo Randy. That pattern and colors would make a nice quilt as well.
