I love these carved wooded sculptures by Sheldon Harvey. They are his vision of Navajo supernatural beings. He decorates them with paints, horsehair and even canvas. Sheldon is from Window Rock Arizona.
Years ago I had the great pleasure of stopping in Santa Fe on the way to CA. This reminds me of the trip. I saw wonderful Indian art. http://whatisbelgium.blogspot.com
At first I thought you might have been in his studio until I saw the Indian Market magazine. You have posted a wonderful collection of diverse images of the market this year. I like the symbolic representation of his work.
Randy, Have been visiting your site daily for quite awhile. Your pics are always colorful and composed well. This series of the SF Indian Market is really being enjoyed. Not only are the photos nice, your remarks concerning the names of the Artists themselves adds a personal touch.

Wow that's a pretty amazing piece of work Randy, if you owned that I think you could be pretty sure it would be a 'one of' piece.

This one reminds me of some wooden sculptures I brought from Angola and that's amazing!
This is very unusual and therefore extremely interesting. It's a nice change from the usual and I like it too!
I enlarged it to see it better. I love the feathers...so colorful. It is a unique piece and I love the imagination expressed in his work.
Very cool work. I like it very much.
Really unusual piece - I am still thinking about it!
I like this, have not seen anything similar.
Very unique and earthy. Very Navajo. I have never seen anything like that.
That's neat, interpretations of his visions.

I like the colors and the form.
Hmmmm, not sure what to make of it, but it IS interesting!
His sculptures are fascinating. I am very drawn to Native American art, don't necessarily love everything, but there's a lot I really like.
