Fallen but not Down

This poor Aspen had fallen over the trail I was on over the weekend. It never made it all the way down to the ground so you walked under it. Despite possibility of falling trees there is nowhere I like being than on a beautiful hike. So on this day when most of us have to be at work I pose this question to you, where would you rather be today?

Siempre estupendas las cosas que nos dejas. Un placer volver por tu espacio.

Saludos y un abrazo.

Today I would rather be in a wood frame house out on the open prairie. I would like to have pie baking in the oven, and fresh corn on the stove for dinner. The sun has begun to set, casting deeply colorful light across the fields. The bang of a screen door is heard, footsteps across the floor, the swooshing of water washing hands and the creak of faucet being turned off by tiny fingers.

I would move out onto the porch to watch the grasses as the wind picks up. Off in the distance, I can see someone coming down the road - coming home to all this peace and comfort. In my bare feet, I tread out across the board floor and sit myself on the porch steps. I can hear the banter of children as they set the table for dinner, and I rest my head on my arms and take a deep breath. I wish I were here. I wish I could stay here today. And I hope you hopped into the car with my husband as he drove out from town, and are going to be our dinner guest.

Wait, while I open the wine!

On a Canadian lake shore, surrounded by thick fir-tree forest, Randy:) But I would like equally to take a round in the center of Santa Fe!

That's a tricky one Randy, there are at least three places I'd like to be today, but I'm also happy to be right where I am! Happy trails!!

Anywhere but here!

Oh, just wait, you poor worker bees. Someday you will be retired and every day will find yourselves exactly where you want to be, doing exactly what you want to do.

Have to say, I loved my job, but it always included stuff other people wanted me to do. Not any more.

Sorry about the gloating. ;)

I love the aspen in the background and that beautiful blue sky. I always would rather be in mountains, hiking, skiing or just enjoying the fresh mountain air.

Beautiful shot Randy! Where would I rather be? I'd have to agree with you, a hike sounds perfect, or camping would be awesome too!

Looks like a beautiful place, Randy. I wouldn't mind a walk in the woods...or on a golf course!

Right at this moment, I'd like to be back on the coast walking on one of those long beach trails.

Oh, that is a dilemma I face each and every day - "Where do I want to be? Want do I want to do? Oh my." See, I am retired and I dreamed of this period in my life most every day while working at the institution. Now that time has come I never imagined it would place me into such a quandary each day. And you know, I relish it. Hang in there Randy. By the way, on yesterday's hike I came across a large tree just like that arching over the trail and I paused to wonder why it grew that way. I then realized it was a huge limb that had broke free and crashed down. I always think about how neat it would be standing nearby to witness the thundering crashing noise it must have made.

That's a bit of a cruel question :-) especially as the sun is out here at LAST and that the weather forecast for the weekend is: yup, rain. Again...

I have noisy construction going on next door so anywhere quiet would be a treat!

I'm thinking I might hop in Allison's husband's car and head home with him. That was a wonderful description. But I really think I would like to be somewhere where it is raining and cool...the beach somewhere would be nice.

I'd always welcomed a trip to the mountains and forests than to be at work all day without seeing the sun. Hello! Peter.

I travel so much that today I am content to be just where I am, working from my home office and planning shrimp on the grill for dinner. (most days I might say PARIS! but you already knew that - hah!)

I'd rather be hiking! I love the clouds in this shot, with the fallen tree under them.

Spectacular, Randy. A hike on a day with a sky and clouds like that would be heavensent.

That sky looks pretty beautiful...and it looks as though you were in a pretty sweet place!

I was pretty happy where I was today too. After my swim this am I took my kayak out and paddled around on a perfectly calm-glassed over lake for a couple hours.
