Big Screen Shooter

This woman was walking around the plaza earlier this week just snapping away with her iPad. It's amazing how many more people are walking around with these instead of a camera. I think they are great for a quick snap but if I were traveling I would want a good camera. What are your thoughts?

Being as I have been recently discovering the great photos my new-to-me iPhone can produce I was curious as to which device had the better camera. A bit of research (I Googled it) revealed that most "experts" concluded the iPhone had better camera quality than did the iPad. So there you go.

They mostly get no idea what taking a picture is about...

Yeah, exactly my opinion, Randy! I got annoyed in Hong Kong by those people. It seems so odd (but isn't it so at the beginning of each new "toy"??)

It always looks so awkward!

Who cares about the iPad - I want her coat!

Since I don't have an Ipad or anything even remotely like it, I will stick to a good old camera until they stop making them, in the hope I die before that happens! Happy weekend Randy!

I agree with you Randy, but sometimes for travel is better a compact camera its better than a reflex, I just shared 100 aw nikon and i am very happy, i can carry in my kayak, make panoramic--- but a reflex its better.

I like to use my phone for taking pics and videos a lot- because it fits in my pocket. But if I were to carry anything bigger I would prefer my camera!

I actually laughed the first time I saw this happen in front of me. Kinda made me feel like I was in a different era for some reason?

6 months ago I would have agreed with you, but there were days on my vacation to Italy when my Nikon was just too heavy to tote around. I took some wonderful photos with my iPhone and if I didn't know better I would guess they were taken with the big camera.

I'll stick with my camera...When we were in San Antonio on the river boat ride a woman had an iPad to take her photos, couple times she almost dropped it (yikes).

Nothing can rival a good Canon or Nikon in my estimation.

Well? First of all I don't have a tablet. But it does seem a little awkward to me. It needs a hanging strap to free the hands. Never know when someone will ask you directions and how are you going to point the way with that thing in your hands?

The power of advertising, my friend, (nothing to do with quality, convenience, versatility or cost.)

I'm a professional photographer, so I think you know my answer to your question ;^)

I agree, it looks odd, I would feel silly! Ciel's comment made me laugh!

I'm seeing this a lot more, I guess it at least gives you a *big* 'camera' screen!

I'm with you! Although I just added one of the new Nikon Coolpix cameras to my collection - the one with the 42x zoom - and took it to a chimpanzee sanctuary. I think I got some great pictures and it sure was easier to lug around instead of my Canon and a heavy lens.

There is nothing like a good camera in your hands! Its just a tool.
