On Your Right!

For those who don't want to walk up and down the trail there is always a faster way. I think it's funny that some people can't hear a bike getting close and to see their faces when they hear "On Your Right!"

This made me chuckle as I've been there, usually I let out a little squeal as well.

I have at times been surprised to have a bicyclist come up behind me, usually on blacktop roads though. I would think dirt would create more evidence of approaching vehicle. But if one is in conversation, one senses may not work so well.

Well, I am still happy with my 4 days Randy. Lucky you to have 5.

I have a little bell on my mountain bike. A lot of good it does when the hiker has those darn earphones plugged into their ears listening to head-banger music. What's with people and their Ipods? Don't they want to listen to the sounds of Nature while hiking? Sheesh! Okay Randy, you got me going there. Sorry.

One must be careful on such trails...especially if I'm coming by on a bike!

We've got a similar problem on our multipurpose trails here in Stone Creek. Some people walk on the wrong side; some people ride bikes on the wrong side and some people drive golf carts on the wrong side - all of them often going way too fast! :-)

That's definitely a great place to get some exercise and fresh air.

Beautiful area. I live in a big hike/bike area too and bikes can be pretty silent -- except mine which is a 1960s something cruiser with giant (loud) wheels.

We are having bike/pedestrian problems on our sidewalks in the city let alone on our trails!

I would be on the bike for sure and what a pretty ride that would be.

I wouldn't mind taking multiple walks a day in this green pleasant place.

That'll be me! I'm always in danger of getting mown down or knocking a cyclist into the canal. But I am deaf so I really don't hear them - even when they shout!

I, too get freaked out when they pass....whoooosh!

I have found it is a little dangerous to walk with earphones in : )

On a local bike trail, when my son was about 10, he learned the 'On your left!' warning and you could hear him as he whizzed out ahead of us... 'On your left!' - 'Oh your left' - On your left!'

I hate it when I'm on my bike and a car coming up behind me on the road, hoots their horn at full blast, almost making me swerve onto the road or into the drain!
