Pre-Smoke Filled Sky

This weekend we had an Arts and Crafts fair on the plaza as you can see the sky was beautiful on Saturday before the fire started. Yesterday the skies were horrible. According to some news the fires is headed north east in to the Pecos wilderness area with zero containment.

j’espère que l'incendie ne fera pas trop de dégât et que l'on arrivera a l’arrêter

I can't wait for your photos from the Spanish Market and the Native American's Market of this year.

So sorry you're having such a problem with fires Randy, it really does cause so much heartache.

It seems like the entire American west is in flames this week! Hopefully Santa Fe won't be under a cloud of smoke for much longer. It's really stressful having a raging fire so nearby.

Love the lamppost with the pink flowers. Reminds me of France!

In the early 90s a huge fire almost destroyed the 'macchia' along our coast. It was horrible, everything was charred and black, but a few years later the green was back. My best wishes for your wilderness!

Wonderful colors here with the clear sky... It has the appearance of a scene drawn by an artist with the people chosen carefully for the composition. Very nice.

I know, having lived in Arizona for 40 years, how devastating these fires are. I'm hoping you remain safe.

Yes, it was a beautiful morning before the fires... the winds are calmer this morning- I am hoping they can get at least some sort of containment today. So sad to watch our wilderness burn. :(

I understand how you are feeling because we have awful fires every summer! 2003 was the driest year ever and it seemed the whole country was in flames.

Glad the sky was clear for the maket on Saturday. Here's hoping they get the fire under control very soon. There won't be anything left of the high desert areas and the mountians if they don't.

How terrible these fires are! It has been a dreadful year for floods and fires here in Canada too!

Hope the fire can be controlled...

Pecos Wilderness area. My first thought was that was where I drove through back in March. A check of the map revealed we were in the other direction. Yet it doesn't matter, as it remains a terrible event regardless if you've been there or not. Do keep us posted as to how this develops.

Sad to hear about the wildfires - once they get going they're so hard to contain. Thankfully, eventually the earth regenerates, but in the meantime the fires cause huge problems and danger.

I'm sorry to hear of these terrible fires in Arizona. I hope for the best. In the meantime, please continue to take these sunny, blue sky images of optimism :^)
