Hike #2

The air was cool on the day of the hike but as we climbed higher it became crisp and cold. As air became thinner in the higher elevation and colder it got you felt more alive with every breath. Maybe not for this tree lying in the snow. It did however look like it was reaching for the sunlight.

The clarity of this picture makes my lungs freeze with the thought of the crisp air going in and out. Such sunlight on the snow, too!

I once lived in Flagstaff (right at7,000 elevation) and I remember that rush of adrenaline when you first stepped out on a winter's morning in the thin mountain air.

I love hiking in the mountains, although it isn't as easy now as it used to be. Might be due to the aging process. :-)

Love the shot, with the tree sticking out of the snow...as you say, maybe reaching for the sun!

Isn't it amazing how close the colors blue and white really are? The shadows on the snow are wonderful. I think I would be reaching for the sun also.
