My Favorite Time

The last few weekends we have spent hiking the Atalaya trail on the east side of the city. Atalaya mountain is 9121ft in elevation and the hike takes about 2 hours to the top. I love it because it's so close to my home yet when your climbing the silence is just wonderful. During the next week I will be posting photos from my hike. I hope you enjoy.

I understand. Our daughter lives at 9,000 feet in Colorado. When we visit we hike down the mountain to an old mining camp and creek. Of course, then we have to hike back up.

I think I'm too old for that!

Looks like a beautiful place. I'll look forward to more photos!

I am so fortunate to live within walking distance to a Calif. State Park interlaced with 40 miles of trails...less the elevation you have. Hiking is a true joy. Like Farmchick said, the quiet is overwhelming. So why do so many choose to listen to Ipods while hiking? One of the great mysteries of life for me. A great shot there Randy.

I enlarged the photo so I could see the patches of snow between the trees in the distance.
