Goodnight 2010.

The one thing I love after a snow fall is how quite the city feels. I am sure snow or no snow that won't be the case on New Years Eve. Another year has flown by and I can't begin to express my appreciation for all of you who have stopped by for a visit. My New Years wish for all of you is that your heart be filled with another year full of love, peace, and happiness. Happy New Year!

Snow and Adobe.

I love the way our homes in Santa Fe look after a good snow. You know that there is a wonderful warmth inside after a day of being outside. Wishing you all something to keep you warm from the cold winter.

Bending Towards Blue Sky.

While walking around a park I saw the shadow of a tree and how it looked like it was bending towards the blue of the sky. I must of been in a state of dreaming that morning. Only a few days left in the year, have you pick your photo for theme day yet?

Blue Gate.

Snow highlights various things in the landscape. While drive home one day these blue gates stopped me dead in my tracks.

A Walk in the Park.

This is what I would rather be doing than going back to work after a weeks vacation. Wishing you all a good start to your week. It's back to work we go.

Stillness

We did not have a white Christmas this year but we did have a few days a little over a week ago with snow one the ground. I am going to finish the year out with some images that I caught the day after. Here's hoping your Sunday is a peaceful one.

First and foremost I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas full of joy and peace for you and your loved ones. Thank you for the gift of time that you bestow on me everyday with your comments. This photo was from last nights Christmas Eve walk along Canyon Road.

Christmas Eve Walk

Each year for Christmas Eve people walk along Canyon Road singing carols and enjoying hot cider and bonfires. The street is also lined with Faralitos or luminarias. Some galleries and shops are open for people to stop in and get warm and enjoy their art. This is the window at Curiosa a lovely little shop filled with great gifts, jewelry and home decor items. Whatever you do today I hope that you day is filled with joy and the wonders of the holiday.

Winter Solstice Festival

Every year the Santa Fe Children's Museum has a Winter Solstice Festival that include storytelling, a drumming circle, snacks the best part a labyrinth made out of luminarias. It's a great community event that brings people out to celebrate the solstice.

A Santa Fe Christmas Wreath.

If you don't want the usual Christmas pine wreath there is always our traditional Christmas wreath. Red Chile wreaths can be found all over New Mexico this time of year. Well really you can find them all year round. Their a great gift for the cook in your life.

The New Green

I was at one of my favorite stores Anthropologie over the weekend. This wooden tree was part of their Christmas display. Talk about a new way to think Green, you can now recycle something into your next tree. What do you think thumbs up or thumbs down?

Holiday Sparkle

One of my favorite stores to window shop in for Christmas is ACC. They have wonderful Christmas displays and beautiful home furnishings. These Silver aluminum trees remind me of my grandmother and her old tree from the 60's. I hope your holidays are full of sparkle.

Is She Or Isn't She?

Imagine my surprise while I was out shopping at a local tourist shop. As I was walking past these key chains I saw "Santa Fe Kate" staring right back at me. My first thought was Santa Fe is calling to you Kate. Do you have stuff like this in your city?

Guitar and Flowers.

This is the courtyard of the Brad Smith Gallery on Canyon road. It it one of my favorite galleries because his painting are so colorful and would just look perfect in my home. Well, one can wish.

Santa Fe's First Snowfall!

We pause in the middle of our Canyon Road series to bring you this breaking news flash. WE HAVE OUR FIRST SNOWFALL OF THE SEASON! It starting in the morning and continues as I type this. Painted Seat

While touring the event on Canyon Road I tried to get around to most of the artist who were out working. I missed a few but I found this old wooden chair with paint on it left vacant while the artist was on a break.

Viewing Art

While walking through one of the galleries I caught sight of this artist working on Canyon road. Hope your all having a good week so far.

Just one of the many painters along the route. I love the colors he used for the sky.

Sit and Look for Awhile.

The Nordwall Gallery on Canyon Road always has some intriguing art work hanging right outside the door or on an easel and on the day of the event they did not disappoint. I was drawn by this painting of Native Americans on horseback.

Special Delivery.

In mid-October there was an event on Canyon Road to support music in our schools. Some of the galleries had school chorus performers and there were artists working on paintings all along Canyon Road. I will be bringing some of the photos from this fun filled day through out the week. I hope you will enjoy them.

Solitude

This is one place where you would not expect to find solitude. I was out in Galisteo for their Studio Tour and while it was crowded with people there were no children in the playground. Just a photographer and his camera watching the clouds go by.

Red on Red.

Well La Nina has done her best and we still have no snow. While out on my walk the other day I caught sight of this red gate with it's red tiled cover and a red chile wreath. Maybe it's a sign of a spicy weekend to come. Hope your's is full of spice.

Transparent Tree.

Click on this one for a better look. By the time 5pm rolls around the sun is almost gone. On the way home the other evening I caught sight of this beautiful sunset. Good thing I had my camera and there was no one honking behind me.

Mid-Week Rest Stop.

Benches are a big in Southwest design. You can find them indoors as well as out and usually in bright colors. I found this unpainted one but with a wonderful Native American rug adding that splash of color.

Golden

Since we have had no snow as of yet there are still some color out there but you have to look hard for. I stumbled upon this while out on a walk. So glad I did. I am having internet problems so I have not had a chance to stop by. Hopefully it will be fixed tonight.

Monday Blues

Does Monday give you the blues? Well try wearing this winter hat and maybe it will just tickle you. If not others will probably smile. Caught this while shopping at the Farmers Market this weekend. Here's to the start of a new week. Hope yours is great.

Leaving an Impression.

Beauty can be found simply by opening our eyes and looking around. Even when that means looking down at the sidewalk as your walking past. This was a reminder for me to slow down and take it all in. Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

Cooking Santa Fe Style.

As you can see there is no shortage of cook books that will teach anyone how to cook the foods of Santa Fe. The food here is different than the Mexican food that I grew up with. How you may ask? It's all in the Chile, the spicier the better.

Riding past the Sun.

Walking around town the other day I came across this graffiti sun and the bike parked next to it. Funny what you can see when your not in a rush to get somewhere. Happy weekend everyone! Your visits made me feel like I was riding past the sun!

Look Deep Into My Eyes.

Around this time of year I have seen skulls with Santa hats around town. This the first time I came across one lit up like this. I thought it was cool but it doesn't instill that holiday feeling for me but hey to each his own.

Theme Day: Time

It's theme day here on CDP and this month's theme is Time. When I think of time I think about how this year has flown by.
