Reflection on Water Street

Most of our snow has melted away but there are big ice patches there and there. Not the case along this part of Water Street. I just happened to be walking by when I got sight of the small reflection on this window. Have a great Saturday everyone.

Cold Day

Yesterday was a little warmer but the day I took this shot it was only 19 degrees and windy. There were very few people out including me. I felt bad for the Native Americans at the Palace of the Governor's, business was pretty slow.

I am leaving for Denver on Saturday morning and won't be back until Monday morning. I will have some automatic posts over the weekend so please stop by. Have a great weekend everyone.

Pink Chair

I had to pull another from my archives. I captured this at a gallery during the High Road Studio Tour. Hanging next to the chair is a bell made from an old gas tank.

Old Color

Lately the daytime temperatures have been extremely low and had me longing for the Fall. It was still warm and there were beautiful colors everywhere. Tomorrow we should see a high of 31 degrees. Maybe I will get out for a lunchtime walk.

"A" Gallery

This is a newer portal that is really close to my work. This gallery has some really nice artwork. Oh who am I kidding, we have a lot of nice artwork in town.

Shadows in the Portal

It's been pretty cold out so I am digging through the archives. I shot this late Fall while walking back to work. This is a big shopping area downtown just east of the plaza. Wish you all a great start to your week.

"Cold"

I stumbled upon this tree while on one of my snow hikes that had these interesting blooms that were still hanging on. I kept walking but some lyrics to an Annie Lennox song kept running through my head. So I made sure to search it out on my way back.

Thought it was time for something really colorful. This was outside of a restaurant that I visited up north on a small road trip.

At the Top V

This little guy wants to wish you a Happy Friday and a great weekend. This snowman must have just been made shortly before I arrived. He wasn't frozen yet. Luckily for him someone warned me before I stepped on him.

Needless to say the wind at the top was pretty strong and really really cold. This poor tree was taking a beating from the wind and the snow that flew up on it. As you can see it was pretty wind blown and frozen.

There was quite a bit to see on the mountain top from the view to this wonderful tree with the wavy branch. Click on the shot for a better look.

This is normally one of my favorite spots to sit and take in the view at the top. But as you can see my seat looked a little cold. Out in the distance you can see Santa Fe and some snow clouds over the city. I can't wait to go up again.

After reaching the top of Atalaya I was looking eastward and I had this marvelous view of the Pecos Wilderness. It was a marvelous day, yes this was before my accident. It was still a great day. Wishing you all a great start to your week.

Fence on the Hill

After hiking this trail for awhile you will come across this fence. I am not sure why it's there but I do like the view from this spot. In the distance where the trees scoop down a bit you will see a small piece of the city in the distance. Happy Friday everyone! I hope it goes by quickly.

Trailhead

This was the start of my climb to the top of Atalaya. As you can see by the sign the elevation to the top is 9,121. It is such a beautiful trail in any season.

First Day Hike

Yesterday I went on usual my usual snow hike. As I walked to the trail I passed by this wall that is part of a very nice development of some expensive homes. The hike was pretty tough because of the snow but I made it to the top. Unfortunately on the way down I took pretty good spill and I will probably be pretty sore by morning. Snow isn't as soft when there is a big rock underneath.

Happy New Year

When I was on my hike the other day I came across these shadows. It made me think of the paths we all choose in our lives. I hope that whatever path you choose in 2013 it brings you peace, love and happiness. Happy New Years my friends.

Where the water flows

This is one of my favorite spots along the Aspen Vista Trail. This is where the creek normally runs in the spring. It's covered in snow and ice now but if you stand really quite you can hear the water flowing under the ice. Talk about peaceful.

Curiosa at Christmas

Curiosa on Canyon Road always has my favorite window displays at Christmas time. I think the best time to see this window is the evening of the Christmas Eve walk, there is just something magical about it.

Baby It's Cold Outside

While out on my Christmas Eve hike I could hear a dog whimpering on the other side of the hill. As I came down I saw their owners sledding and having a great time. The Great Dane on the other hand was busy trying to climb on top of her buddy anyway she could to get off the snow. I guess you could not refer to her as a Snow Bunny.

Christmas Eve on Canyon Road.

One of the biggest local traditions here in Santa Fe is the Christmas Eve walk on Canyon Road. Friends and Families walk long Canyon Road singing carols, enjoying hot chocolate and warming up on small bonfire. The road is full of Faralitos, lights and cheer similar to this. Wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas!

Standing on the Plaza II

This is the view as I started back for my office. In the distance you see the New Mexico Museum of Art. One of my favorite buildings. On you way there you can stop at the Kettle Corn vendor's and pick up a treat. Happy Saturday everyone! It's my first day of vacation and I am just a happy guy!

Colorful

Don't you just need a little color in your life sometimes. With the gray skies and the snow I searched my archive for a little touch of Autumn. Now don't get me wrong, I love the snow I just thought some color was in order to help wrap up the week.

Ready for Christmas

Many of the buildings in our downtown area are decked out for the holidays. This is the Worrell Gallery and the sculptures shown here are the work of Bill Worrell. Now this is one sculpture I would love to have in front of my home.

Making Tracks.

This is a small park at the courthouse close to my work. There were no tracks when I arrived at work. By noon there were tracks all over.

Snow and Shadows II

I could not resist this shot when I saw the sunlight shining along the sidewalk. The Faralitos were left from a Christmas event held here at the Palace of the Govenors the night before.

I got this in the park next to the Basilica. Apparently there is more snow on the way overnight according to the forecasters. We'll see what the day brings. Have a wonderful day and happy weekend.

I love this statue of St. Francis. I shot this right after I took the photo of the plaza. It's almost Friday!

Snow On The Plaza

Our snow has started to melt but we are supposed to get more on Friday. The ice is still pretty bad though. I almost took a spill on my way to the plaza. Oh what we do for our blogs.

Lost In The Snow.

As the snow came down on Sunday this little bird came around looking for food in the bird feeder. He was pretty amusing to watch, from the ground to the branch, the fence and then off to another feeder.

Snow, finally.

Santa Fe got the first snow fall of the season. There ski area's got over a foot and the city anywhere between 4-6 inches. I captured this as I was coming out of Downtown Subscription, on of my favorite places for Hot Mexican Chocolate.

This is the current window display at Collected Works books which is close to my work. There is a slight reflection but you can't really make it out. Have a happy Sunday!

Gas or Pedal

I guess it depends on how far you want to go. As for me I prefer a more green way of travel but not Pink. I caught this the other day while taking my afternoon walk.

Morning Fire.

Lately the morning skies have been full of some great color. I snapped this the other morning right before work. Class is over and now it's time to dig into a good book. Well for the next six weeks anyway before the next semester starts.

A Day of Shopping

Nothing like a day of shopping and with a colorful bag no less. That really isn't a shopping bag. This shopper had lunch at Cafe Pasquals. It's fun to watch tourist as they shop around town.

St. Francis

I had to take a walk the other day to clear my head. The air was crisp and the sky was blue. My walk took me past the basilica so I snapped a quick shot.

Climbing the Walls

These beautiful Autumn leaves with their vivid color are covering the wall of a parking structure for the La Fonda hotel. I caught this the other day while out on my afternoon walk. Here's wishing you a great start to your week.

Theme Day: My Street

It's the 1st again and Theme Day has come around again. This month's theme is My Street or an interpretation of it. I choose to shoot from one of the corners of the street that I work on. After work last night I took a little walk and shot the plaza which is all decorated for the holidays.
