Enjoying the Tunes

This guy found a spot in the shade to listen to the guitar player on the bench. I love music in the plaza, but you wouldn't believe how many people complain about this. The merchants are one group. They claim it keeps people from their shops, really?

Here, a lot of times when you see guitar toting musicians hanging around, they're usually panhandlers. It's a real bummer for the shops downtown because it does drive business away :^(

Looks like a good spot to relax at lunch for a few minutes.

Very short-sighted of the merchants!

wow, really merchants? seems a great thing to draw MORE people into your shops, that otherwise wouldn't have even been there!

Sweet!

I agree with Kate. Listening to music and shopping are two very distinct things.

awww. that's sad.

I like the street music too. I can't imagine why the merchants would think it is bad for business.

I like music very much, but not any kind of it and not at any time...

People will always find something to complain about. Nice round of applause!

The merchants will come and go. The music will not drive their customers away. Good prices along with neat merchandise is the key. (In my humble thinking.)

I would love it.

Of course it doesn't drive business away. It adds to the ambience and lures people to the area.

Sad that there is disagreement over the music... Looks like a nice place to relax and enjoy the ambiance!
