Theme Day: Public Transportation

Welcome to another Theme Day here on CDP, this month's theme is Public Transportation. Here at the Santa Fe train depot we have an old 1950's Santa Fe Southern Railway "Dome Car." In the older days of train travel this would have been considered traveling first class. Travelers could enjoy the view sitting in the "dome" while other dined below. Every now and then I see this car go by my work usually full of tourist on a short trip to the historic Lamy station.

Oh yes, what a beautiful train. They don't make 'em like this anymore. A lovely post.

Travel by train is mostly pleasant, when you can do it relaxed and appreciating nice landscapes...
God bless you!

I'd be one of those tourists given half the chance! Love the way you caught the dome with Santa Fe written on it and oh that sky! Typical All Saints weather here: dreary!

Sure wish we had better rail service. This was, and is, such a great way to "enjoy the ride."

Great Theme Day post--superb photo. Mine is up at Portland Oregon Daily Photo; it’s a photo that I took on the MAX Light Rail last Saturday.

I haven't seen one of those cars in ages! I used to love to see them going by.

I remember taking the train from Vancouver back to Toronto and spending time up in the dome through the Rockies. Fabulous way to travel but time-consuming!

I love old trains. This one is fabulous. I must make a mental note to ride on it if I ever get to Santa Fe.

Fooled me. I thought you'd have a photo of the railrunner. Tomorrow's the big day. Under the knife at noon.

As a kid I owned a Santa Fe to Somewhere Else toy train, I'm glad to see a real one now!
