For The Community

Feeling like a workout, well you can find a gym and plenty of exercise classes here at the Genoveva Chavez Community Center. I have yet to venture inside but I will soon. I hear they have good Yoga classes.

Sunday on the Plaza

There nothing like going to the plaza on a Sunday just to see what is going on. There is always something new. Even just to people watch or to have them watch you while your taking their picture.

Plein Air Painting

Yard sales were in abundance yesterday and while we were out and about we came across this woman painting out in the middle of this field. It was so bright that you can barely see them but this field was filled with these small purple flowers. I would love to see the finished product.

Cruising

I was out walking around and saw this VW Thing cruising around and just had to get a shot. You can't miss this color cruising around. I'll bet it's a fun ride.

First Friday

The first Friday of the month mean free admission into the Georgia O'keeffe museum just in time for the new show Abstraction. For me its a real perk for those of us who live in Santa Fe especially since she is one of my favorite artist. Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Get Your Worms Here.

Have a garden, well you'll need some worms for that compost. That's what these guys were lined up for at the Farmers Market. Can't say I am a big fan but if you want some good compost these little guys will help make that happen.

Poppies

The Wicked Witch of the West would have loved these. I love poppies too but I favor the Red ones a little more. The two colors must be very popular around town because I haven't seen any other colors.

Theme Day: Funny Signs

It's theme day here on City Daily Photo and this months theme is Funny Signs. "Jesus Said Buy Folk Art," has been hanging at this gallery on Canyon Road for years now. It must work because I always see people browsing the art.

Where You Going Dog?

While out on a walk the other day on Canyon Road I saw this happy dog out on an evening ride. He was watching people as he road by. Almost like he was saying "Hey where you going?"

Sunset Glow

The other day shortly after I left work it started to rain hard then shortly after that the hail came. Once I got home the clouds left just as quickly as they came and the sunset lit everything up with a beautiful orange glow. I love living here.

Dancer

Last weekend was the Native Treasures market at the Santa Fe Convention Center. There was alot of great art, music and performers including this Native American dancer who danced while his wife sang. Wish I had a video camera so that I could have posted thier wonderful performance.

What Do You Think?

Everytime I walk past Cafe Pasquals I always see people looking over the menu deciding if they would like to try it. In my opinion everyone should try it for breakfast. It is a wonderful place with really good food. So happy it is a three day weekend. Have a good one everyone!

Stop

No this is not asking you to stop and smell the flowers although we should all do that. It's here in the middle of Palace Avenue making sure cars are careful while tourist are walking on that side of the plaza.

Underground

The Matador is a club that I have not been to but some of my co-workers have. They say its a fun place to hang out in the downtown area. One of these day I just might have to check it out.

Fiona's Bike

I caught site of this old bike while out on another walk downtown. I love the colors you see on older bikes.

Skating By.

Well the weekend flew by like it always does. I was thinking about this week when I came across this skateborder flying by. I sure hope the week skates by just as fast.

Music in the Park.

Last Sunday I went walking through the plaza and as I approached I heard the most beautiful music. Then I came across this harp player just playing away. He played beautifully and people were just sitting around listening to his tunes. I just may go back today to see who is playing.

Cruising Downtown

A few days ago while walking through downtown I caught this VW Bug cruising along the road. The driver seemed to be enjoying his ride in his classic VW.

Entrance

Here is another wall that is around the corner from where I live. I love the bush that is growing next to it. Someone told me they are lilacs, all I know is that they are all over town right now.

When stolling the neighborhood the other evening I came across #613. I love the wall but I think the little Turqouise touches added to it somehow.

Roosters Garage.

Funny how you can walk around your neighborhood and notice something new that has probably been there before. As a photographer you would think my eyes would be more open. Oh well, it was a nice surprise.

Adobe at Sunset.

I love the way adobe looks when the sun is setting on it. It was a cold Saturday but yesterday was actually quite beautiful with clouds in the sky.

Snow Melt

The Santa Fe river is flowing now that most of the snow has been melting. This is the most I have seen in this river since I moved here. It is prettier in person.

End of the Semester.

Lately this is where I spend most of my Saturdays. This is one the entrances to the Santa Fe Community College campus. Today will be the last Saturday that I have to work in the lab. I am happy it will be over after Monday.

Take A Seat

I spotted this little chair and the first thing that came to mind was "I am so ready for the weekend." Hope you all get the chance to rest and enjoy your weekend.

Old Pink Adobe

While out on a walk the other day I spotted this old pink colored adobe. With a little TLC this could be a beautiful home.

Spicy Salad?

Greens have been available at most of the tables at the Farmers Market these past few weeks. This farmer brought along some dried chilies for those craving a little spice in their salad or maybe for making your own chili dressing.

Music For Your Monday

These guys were cranking out the rock and roll songs at the Farmers Market on Saturday morning. That's one thing I like about going there on Saturdays there is always a variety of performers to appeal to different musical tastes.

This is the view of the Farmers Market as your walking next to Warehouse 21 the cities teen art center. Happy Mothers Day to all the moms everywhere!

Bright As Sunshine

The weather is warming up and the Forsythia is blooming all over town. It makes me think of sunshine everytime I see it.

Air Mail

This little guy is perched down the street at a neighbors place. Good thing it's not real, the neighbor might not get another delivery. Have great weekend everyone!

Birds At The Gate.

There are alot of different gates around town. I came across this one with bird tiles on the adobe wall. I think it would make you smile when you come home everyday.

The Artyard

Standing in the same spot but facing in the other direction you will see the Artyard Building. These are lofts that would be a great living/workspace. The Railrunner passes right by there. If your looking for something new this might be the place.

Hey Up Here!

At the Railyard park they built up some rocks for kids to climb up on and look around. It's amazing how different things looked from up there. In the distance you can see the Santa Fe Artist Market that you can shop at every Saturday.

Railyard Park

Railyard park is near the railyard and as you can see there are pieces of old train cars and pieces of old train tracks incorporated in the design.

A Day In The Park

I love seeing people with their dogs in the park. Nothing like hanging out with your best friend. After they settled in and the owner removed what the dog was carrying he started rolling all over the grass. It made you smile just to watch.

Flowers To Start Your Day

Tulips are everywhere right now in Santa Fe. I love this variety and the color is so rich.

Can You Hear Me Now.

While at the Farmers Market I noticed this guy on his cell phone standing next to the Railyard Performance Center. It made me think of the Verizon commercial. Have a happy weekend.

Pig Planter

If you like color you can always put some Geraniums in a colorful Mexican pig planter like this one. Just one of the many things someone could purchase at the Garden Show last weekend.

Garden Show

This past weekend was the 6th Annual Free Garden Fair. There was much to be had from garden sculptures to free seeds and plants to put around your new sculpture piece.

Balloon Poodle Anyone?

If you want a poodle or maybe a flower this guy can make it for you. He is at the Farmer's Market every weekend. It always make you smile to see the kids walking our with their balloon creations.

Bus Stop

This bus stop is down the street from where I live. I like the way the tile work looks like a city map. Have a good start to your week.

I saw this yesterday as I was walking to the Farmers Market and thought would'nt it be nice if we could be like this everyday. Hope you day is filled with love, peace and happiness.

Clouds

Isn't it wonderful how clouds add to a photograph. Had I taken this shot of my favorite grocery store without them I think it would have made for a boring shot of a grocery store.

Yes it is.

It was a cold day Spring day today and the wind was kicking up. Then came the rain and as the temperature started to drop, then came the snow. Hopefully it will be short lived. Have a great weekend everyone!

New Mexico School for the Deaf.

The NM School for the Deaf is not too far from where I live. It's a pretty big campus and they are currently working on some of buildings so I decided to shoot the entrance. Here's a little history: While the New Mexico Legislature officially established the New Mexico School for the Deaf in 1887, it was deaf pioneer Lars Larson who first planted the school's historic roots. In 1885, using their own funds, Lars and his wife Belle began teaching deaf students in a small adobe house in Santa Fe. The deaf couple dreamed of establishing a permanent school where none had existed, a place where deaf and hard of hearing children could receive a quality education comparable to that of hearing children. This dream soon became a reality, and for 125 years, the New Mexico School for the Deaf has been making a difference in the lives of deaf children and their families. NMSD also has the distinction of being the only land grant school for the deaf in the country.

The Road Home

On the way home I was taken aback by the view a few evenings ago. I couldn't believe how much snow we still have. I just love living here.

All Show but No Action.

On Sunday I was on my way to a flea market and all excited because I had not been to this one before. On the way out I saw this gloomy wall of clouds headed our way and what did we get? A sprinkle, it was all show and not action. Needless to say the sprinkle scared all the sellers away. Maybe next week.
