Mural

"The Circles of our Cultures" mural was painted in 2000 by Santa Fe Community Youth Mural Project. It's near a park that I have been to a few times but missed this beautiful art work until this weekend.

Who's Your Neighbor?

While traveling around Santa Fe you will see an occasional Tee Pee sitting out in the middle of someones land. They make for a great place to sleep when you want to be out in the cool night air.

Day's End

Its also the weeks end,thank goodness. I love sunsets here in Santa Fe. When the clouds are out you never know what your going to see. Have a great weekend everyone!

Spring Snow?

Not Really. This is the snow still left over from the Winter. This shot was taken while on my way home from Santa Fe Community College.

Santa Fe Wall

Many homes here in Santa Fe have walls made of adobe surrounding the front yards. Many have beautiful gardens hidden behind them and others entertaining areas.

Sanbusco

On of my favorite shopping centers in town is the Sanbusco marketplace. You can normally find my at Borders on the weekends checking out the new book releases.

Almost Forgotten

While looking through my files I found this photo of this Pink bike complete with Pink backpack from out last snow fall. I remember think that this person was brave to ride in the cold. I can't say that its over, we have had snow in May before.

Basilica Candles

These candles caught my attention from the entry way in St.Francis Basilica. They are located in a small chapel used for quite prayer.

Sweet Sound.

While standing on the corner of yesterday's post I heard a very beautiful voice singing loudly. As I looked over I saw this pair of musicians playing. The woman on the guitar had such a beautiful voice that needed no microphone. I hope to see them again I could just sit and listen the day away.

On the Corner

On the corner of San Fransisco street and Don Gaspar you will find on of my favorite places to eat. Upstairs is the San Fransisco Street Bar and Grill. Good salads and burgers.

Flags for Easter

The these flags were placed in front of the Basilica during Holy Week. They didn't compare to the decorating that was going on inside. Unfortunately I didn't make in.

Blue

This was at the entrance of a store called Poem near the plaza. They have a variety of gifts for your favorite someone or your home.

Spring is Coming.

That's what everyone around Santa Fe keeps saying. I finally saw a little evidence of it close to the plaza. When you see Spring flowers does it make you smile?

Flying Prayer Flags

On the corner of my street is a Buddhist Center. Shortly before the last snow fall melted away the sky was so Blue and it made for a nice backround color for these Prayer Flags. Here's hoping for a good week.

Easter

Many families like this one carried crosses while walking the pilgrimage to the Santuario in Chimayo on Good Friday. Some crosses were even bigger but big or small people carried them with a whole lot of faith and devotion.

Good Friday

"During Holy Week thousands of pilgrims journey to El Santuario de Chimayó, a tiny shrine in northern New Mexico. They leave from their homes, or their cars parked on the roadside, to walk 10, 20, 30, or even 100 miles to reach Chimayo. In the darkness before Good Friday, pilgrims line the highways north of Santa Fe carrying crosses and glow sticks. By Easter Sunday tens of thousands of worshipers pass through the doors of the little chapel, built almost 200 years ago on a site that is sacred to many Pueblo Indians and descendants of Spanish settlers." It took hours to get there and the line to get into the chapel was so long. It really was amazing to see the strength of the faith that brought all of these people here yesterday.

Big Sky

Some days when I want to get away from it all I can drive only 5-10 min south of town and see views such as this. This reminds me of a watercolor painting. Make the best of the weekend everyone!

Theme Day: Red

It is theme day once again here on City Daily Photo. Our theme this month is Red. While on my way home one day the sun was setting and it made the red color in this sign glare right at you advertising all the food stops. Imagine my surprise when this red semi-truck came into frame just before I took the shot. Lucky I guess.

Meet Hercules

Click on the photo for a better look. Hercules as I have named him is a neighborhood kitty that travels through out our street. He got his name after I shot this picture of him on the neighbors old truck with the mudflaps that had the name Hercules on them.

Rest Stop

The Thunderbird Inn is directly across the street from the Pantry. Built probably sometime in the 50's and it still has pink and light blue bathrooms. Looks like they were having a problem with one of the Canales. Canales are roof drains that help drain the water from the flat roofs.

The Spot

The Pantry is where yesterdays delicious burritos came from. They used to only serve breakfast and lunch but are now serving dinner. We are wanting to try it but everytime I say I am going to try something new I keep going back to what I love.

A Santa Fe Breakfast

Breakfast in Santa Fe usually means a breakfast burrito at your favorite spot. I usually prefer the two egg, bacon and Green Chili burrito with beans shown here. My partner's is the Red Chili one at the top of the photo with potatoes. I just might have to go out for another one today!

Color of the Day.

Facing the engine from yesterdays post was this Santa Fe Southern engine. By luck I also caught this bike rider wear a coat matching the yellow from the engine. Now what are the chances? Happy Saturday!

Ride to Santa Fe.

I was out walking after our last snowfall and was taken by the color of this engine. Usually the snow is so bright that it tones everything down in comparison but these colors were shining bright that day. Happy Weekend everyone!

My Shadow

Have you ever watched a cloud just float slowly by? This one was floating by one day casting it's shadows on the mountains below. Take about a good destressing moment.

Looking Downtown

The skies were gray today and tomorrow we are expecting more snow. I am hoping it won't come. I can say now that I am ready for the Spring. This is a view looking into downtown on Lincoln Street.

Reach Out

I love this old dead tree. It looks like it trying to reach out and touch something.
When we first arrived at Tent Rocks the sky was not this blue but as the day progressed it started to become this rich blue.

Twin Tents

As you start to climb up after walking through Slot Canyon you will see what I like to refer to as the Twin Tents. These two see to have very distinct points to them. One actually looks more like a pyramid sitting on top. Have great start to your week everyone.

Spring Equinox?

We got snowed on again! I have a feeling we're going to see more. Everyone is ready for Spring but they may have to put on the brakes and wait a little longer. I'll have more from Tent Rocks tomorrow.

Looking In

This is the view as you climb up above Slot Canyon at Tent Rocks. I would have loved to have hiked here after a snow fall. Speaking of snow, it's snow again here tonight. Got to love Santa Fe!

Looking Up

This is one of the views of the tent shaped rocks from Slot Canyon. People must find them pretty inspiring. There was even a guy jogging through here then stopping to write some music. Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Branching Out

In the canyon of Tent Rocks there are a few trees that seem to be growing on the outside of the rocks, roots and all. They are more beautiful in person.

Balancing Act

These rocks can be seen at the beginning of the hike through the slot canyon of Tent Rocks park. I would not want to be around if they ever fell. Oh and Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Hike Under the Tents

Tent Rocks also known as "Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument" is a great place for a hike. About 40 miles southwest of Santa Fe near the Cochiti Pueblo you can walk amongst these tent rock formations. For more information click here.I will be posting different shots this week from our hike.

Taking a Ride.

While out on a ride heading back to Santa Fe we saw this Amtrak train heading south. When I see a train I like to imagine where the passengers are going to. Time to start a new week. Have a good one everyone.

Drive Me.

This truck is always parked on my street. The owner must be a neighbor. One things alot of people love here is old trucks. The color almost matches the color of the sky. I think it would be fun to drive.

Shooting on Canyon Road.

While walking down Canyon Road I saw this photographer shooting in the area. Canyon Road is a great place for people watching and taking some great photos all year around.

Party Time

No this party was not for me although today does happen to be my birthday. We had just arrived at the Flying Star when some woman came in like a hurricane just to set this up before the party guests arrived. Soon this table was full of people have a great time. Theme Day: The Tenin Technique

It's theme day here on CDP and today we celebrate the founder of our photo community Eric Tenin. It is the 5 year anniversary of Paris Daily Photo. Today I say thank you, for creating this community and for all of our fellow photo bloggers who have since become friends.

Seeing Red II

Looking up once again I notice this galleries signage on each of the windows. Maybe I am becoming more sensitive to the color. It does look great against the blue sky.

Seeing Red

I have never seen a shrub with Red branches until I walked past this one on Museum Hill. It's a first for me. Maybe I need to travel more.

Skylight Art

Now as many times as I have been to one of our local malls I have never noticed this artwork up by the skylights. It taught me to keep my eyes a little more wide open. Here's hoping for a fast week.

Watching Clouds Roll By

Don't you enjoy those peaceful moments when your relaxing at home and letting the world just pass you by? The other day with big clouds in the sky I did just that, kicked back and shot from the chair I was sitting in. Enjoy your Sunday!

Raven Shaman

While walking downtown I saw this Raven Shaman in a store window. I just might have to start a new collection.

End of the Week!

As night fell the other evening the sky looked like it was filled with clouds made of Cotton Candy. Nothing like an evening sky here in New Mexico. Wishing you all a happy weekend.

Just Keep Shopping

At the far end of town you can find a shopping experience of a different kind. The Fashion Outlets of Santa Fe. If your looking for a bargain it is the place to shop.

How Much Is That Doggie?

Now this is a different purse. Maybe for the dog lover or maybe for someone who just wants to turn heads. This one could be found at one of the boutiques downtown.

Painted Wall

This is one of my favorite painted walls in town. Located in the Railyard district it greets you as you enter the parking lot. The bight colors make you smile even if you can't find a parking space.

Theme Day: Passageway
