Four Generations

The Ortega family span four generations of woodcarvers. Ben Ortega and his family work with cottonwood, cedar and aspen. Ever year they have been in the same location at the Spanish market. The spot is great to see their Saints, biblical characters, angels and animals. Happy Weekend!

I find that whole Ortega family of wood carvers and artists quite amazing. I didn't know until this year that the space and booths along the Palace wall are reserved for the long-time artisans who have been showing at the Spanish Market.

Very different carvings. Interesting that it has lasted for four generations.

I like the quiet expressions on the faces.
