Bode's

Bode's General Store in Abiquiu has been around since 1893. It's one of my favorite places to either grab some goodies before hiking in the area or to eat at there "kitchen." Today weather permitting, I am heading to Ghost Ranch for a hike. I just might have to stop here for a breakfast burrito.

Sun Moon Shaman

One of the many sculptures on the grounds of La Posada Resort. Doug Coffin is the artist who created this wonderful artwork. Wishing you all a wonderful Friday!

Beyond the Coyote Fence

This tree was blooming and reaching past the Coyote fence. The fence makes for a nice backdrop for everything from snow to blooming trees.

On a side note, I am going to see Rickie Lee Jones tonight for the first time so I may not be stopping by your blogs today. Until tomorrow all!

Enjoying the Tunes

This guy found a spot in the shade to listen to the guitar player on the bench. I love music in the plaza, but you wouldn't believe how many people complain about this. The merchants are one group. They claim it keeps people from their shops, really?

Spring is Everywhere

You know it's really Spring when the trees have bloomed and more and more tourist are mingling around town. To top it off we had snow yesterday morning. Fortunately it melted away by 11:00. We were happy for the moisture.

Shadows and Window Covers

I found this one the side of a gallery just off of Canyon Road. It's the start of another week. Lucky for me it's only going to be a four day work week. Come on Thursday!

The Hawai'i Pictures and ...

There are two wonderful exhibits at the Georgia O'Keeffe museum. One is Georgia O'Keeffe and Ansel Adams, The Hawai'i Pictures.  The second is Abiquiu Views, which is one that I am really looking forward to. For more information on these two exhibits, click here.

Neighborhood Dragon

This big metal dragon as you can see sits on top of the Ellsworth Gallery.  This gallery sits across from the new hotel that is still in construction. Imagine seeing this view out of your hotel room.

At Days End

I like the golden light that comes at the end of the day. I caught this view as I was leaving work recently and thought it was perfect for the end of the week. Happy Friday everyone, make it a good one.

Seeing Red

Work is still being done on the new Drury Hotel near downtown.  It's scheduled to open this Summer so workers are scurring around everyday in an effort to get it ready. This part still needs a little work.

In the Light

More and more people are starting to come out into the plaza to spend their afternoons.  Even this little guy thought he would take a bath while his owner played his guitar.

Theme Day: Triangles

Theme Day is upon us. This month's theme seemed to elude me no matter how hard I searched.  Yesterday while out on my afternoon walk I came across these upside down triangles made out of vines on the porch of the Verve Gallery. I guess it pays not to look too hard.

Monday Again!

I am could not find the name for this sculpture on Canyon Road so I decided to call it as I see it. To me she is like most people who have an unfavorable view of the first day of the week. Have a happy one.

Dream

I love taking peeks into some of the yards on Canyon Road. Luckily the fence in the front yard wasn't too high so I was able to see this. 

Mr. Moose

Mr. Moose would be a fun addition to any garden. He's even had a stylish red coat on for any occasion. This sculpture can be seen as you enter Canyon Road.

The End or?

Another week has come to an end thank goodness. This gate is located at a hours on Upper Canyon Road past all of the galleries. On the other side of the gate, the weekend! Have a good one all.

The Color of the Day

The color of adobe can always be found around town. Sometimes the color can be found on people too.

I am sure this woman knew where she was. Parts Unknown is a Men's and Women's clothing store not too far away from the plaza.

Shadows are around us all day, everyday. Sometimes you see them and sometimes walk right by without a second thought. This time I got lucky and caught this decorative one.

My Litte Monkey

This weekend was not a good one. My little sidekick became quite ill and I had to have her put to sleep. To say that my heart is broken is an understatement. It was love at first sight when we met, she rode home on my lap when I adopted her and when she left this earth she was exactly where she should have been, on my lap. Life will not be the same without her.

Early Morning On The Plaza

I shot this one early Friday morning while walking to work. It was 7:30 and it seemed like the city was still sleeping. I saw only two other people walking around but 20 minutes later the city was alive and ready for the day. I hope your Monday is off to a good start.

I am not sure what was creating this shadow. I happened upon it while out for an afternoon walk. There are nothing but offices in the building I was walking past.

Waiting For His Driver

I wanted a happy photo to post for my birthday today and someone somewhere heard my wish. Yesterday I was walking past the plaza and I saw this beautiful red truck. As I approached I caught sight of this hadsome fella waiting for his driver. How can you not smile looking at this shot.

A Day Out

You would have thought yesterday was the first day of Spring. The plaza was full of people including this artist who was taking advantage of the beautiful day full of sunshine.

Changing Hands

This place used to be the Marble Brewery, a nice place to sit, have a beer and watch the crowd. In the last month and half the name of business has changed to a new owner and is now called Draft Station. I am not a huge beer fan but I may have to try it and report back. The Marble Brewery will soon reopen close to our Railyard District. Enjoy your Monday, maybe your work day be good and swift.

I captured this one on the side of the Teahouse, a nice place to sit outside during the warmer months. So how many lights and shadows do you see?

I walk by this home every day during my lunch hour. For some reason it just looks cozy to me.

New Mexico Reflection

I was shooting this for the Zia symbol sticker on the window which is also reflected in our state license plate when I realized I got two reflection. The Zia symbol which comes from the Zia Pueblo is their symbol for the sun. You will also find it on our state flag. Have a happy Friday everyone!

There are quite a few bells on adobe walls but this one is one of my favorites. I like the shadow that the sun created as I walked by.

Snow On The Sangre de Cristo's

This weekend the forecast said we would be buried in snow. The only place around town that got any snow was our mountains. We did get rain on both days so we are thankful for the moisture.

View of Loretto Chapel

This is the view of the back of the Loretto Chapel as you near St. Francis Cathedral from the east. When the trees are full you can't see it as well.
