Best Friends love so many things, the time they spend together,and the things they love to do together. Some like these two even love dressing in the same colors. When I saw these two you could almost feel it, the love they had for one another. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

I don't think this cute little ballerina wanted to be out done by her owners and their polka dot skirts. The skirts might be bright and shiny but I liked her little tutu best.

It's been a tough week, so happy it is half over. If it continues I'm going to look like this little guy just not so cute. He has that look on his face, almost like "When will this be over."

Santa Fe Childrens Pet Parade

On of the parades on Fiesta weekend here in Santa Fe is the Desfiles De Los Ninos or Children's Pet Parade. This parade has been a tradition for at least 87 years and it draws a pretty good crowd. Most of the picture I took were of the pets because their the were dressed so cute. We'll start here at the beginning of the parade. Come back to see some cuties through out the week.

Time To Head Downtown.

It's Fiesta weekend in Santa Fe so I will be heading downtown to see the pet parade and take in some of the mariachi music. Hopefully the sky is as nice as it was last weekend when I took this photo.

It's 5:00 O'Clock Somewhere!

Boy am I ready! These people are enjoying a nice cold one or maybe just a meal here at the Marble Brewery on the plaza. I haven't been but I just might this weekend for fiestas. Wish you all a happy weekend!

Some Like It Hot!

Most of us who live here know the state question; "Red or Green?" Green chili is in season here but for those who prefer Red you can get that too. Here you have Medium, Hot or Super Hot. What's your preference when it comes to spicy? I'm a medium kind of guy myself.

It's Your Choice!

While walking past Ortega's on the Plaza this jewelry display caught my attention. Arizona is currently the most important producer of turquoise by value,but New Mexico is thought to be the oldest of the mines in the U.S. Prior to the 1920's New Mexico was the largest producer. Of all the mines my favorite comes from the Sleeping Beauty mine in Globe Arizona.

Sporting Stripes!

I am starting to think I have a knack for finding unusual pants. While at the Farmers Market over the weekend I was looking down at some veggies and spotted these blue socks. Then I looked up and click went me camera.

On The Corner.

On the corner of Galisteo and Alameda is Louis's Corner. I've posted it before in the past but during the summer months they had these colorful umbrellas out so that people can sit outdoors. They have a great chicken sandwich there, one of my favorites actually.

Indian Market VI: What Do You Think?

This is artist Sheldon Harvey showing his work to a couple of perspective buyers. Sheldon does some fantastic work on canvas as well as on wooden carvings. Sheldon is from Window Rock Arizona but he has a studio in Albuquerque NM.

While shopping at Indian Market there were different foods and restaurants to choose from for a meal. This young woman from Backstreet Pizza was out trying to entice the crowd into choosing their pizza. She put on quite the show and check out those shoes!

CDP Theme Day: Open Air Market

It's the first of the month and theme day is all about shopping shopping and more shopping at open air markets. At the Santa Fe Farmers Market you can always find Matt Romero of Romero Farms fixing something delicious. It's chile time here in New Mexico and Matt is roasting up some delicious chile from his farm.

I love watching the younger generations carrying on the old traditions all the way from the visual artist, the storytellers and the dancers.

You couldn't help but notice some of the things people were wearing when out at Indian Market. I saw this umbrella several time before deciding to take the shot. I'm glad I did. Have a good start to your week everyone!

Indian Market VIII: Weaver

Geneva Shabi (shown here) is a weaver from the Navajo Nation. Ms. Shabi follows in the footsteps of her mother and her grandmother when it comes to weaving. I loved the design of this rug and I admire the patience it takes to make these wonderful pieces of art. Happy Sunday everyone!

Indian Market VII: Silver Sun

This is the work of Elmer Satala Jr. a silversmith from the Hopi tribe. He was inspired by his uncle and was his apprentice for four years. I loved the look of this cuff bracelet especially when I tried it on.

Indian Market VI: Sculpture

This beautiful sculpture is the work of Oreland C. Joe. He is a Jewelry/Sculpture artist from the Navajo Nation. This is from his website "Oreland C. Joe's Favorite stone medium is marble. Marble that is imported from Italy (carrara, statuary white and bardiglio), Portugal, Belgium, Spain and other countries. Domestic marbles used for sculpture are from Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Georgia." Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

This was one of my favorite pieces of pottery at Indian Market. This is the work of Alvina Yepa from the Jemez Pueblo. It's amazing really, the beauty that one creates from the earth.

This beautiful work of art is by Navajo artist Alex Sanchez. Click on the photo for a better look at the design work. This silver purse had many admirers the first day of Indian Market. One day I will own one of his pendents.

Indian Market II: Would you?

This beaded work came from JW Designs in Gallup New Mexico. There was everything from bracelets, necklaces and even beaded horses. Not something I would wear, would you? I would like a horse though. Happy Monday everyone!

Welcome To Indian Market

It was an amazing day at Indian Market! The crowds were bigger than I've I have seen since moving here. The sights and the sounds made me wish I had shot video instead of still shots. There was both a diverse group of artist as well as shoppers.

Colorful Weekend

First stop today our local Farmers Market for some fresh veggies. Then it is off to the Indian Market. The amount of tourist was amazing to see yesterday. Hopefully if will be a good weekend for the artist.

Indian Market Weekend Is Here!

This photo is from the Taos Pueblo Pow Wow last month but I want to use it to announce the beginning of Indian Market weekend. It is my favorite market of the year. Native Americans from all over the country will be here showing their art in downtown Santa Fe. It is a big tourist weekend for us. Buyers will converge on Santa Fe searching for beautiful art work to add to their collections. Have a wonderful weekend everyone I know I will.

Evening On The Plaza.

While out enjoying the cool evening I found my self watching the sun trying to peak through the clouds. It gave a wonderful blue tone to the evening sky. The building on the right is the New Mexico Museum of Art.

Sunflowers were everywhere this past weekend at the Farmers Market! How can you resist bring home some sunshine!

Two Scents

So which one would you choose. The sweet smell and the look of the flowers or the scent and taste of garlic. Both were quite in abundance at the Farmers market this weekend. I choose them both, why not life is short.

If you want a conversation piece in your kitchen than this Chihuahua cookie jar will do the trick. I found this little guy at Gift and Gourmet on the plaza. I thought he would be a bright way to start the week.

Color Over Santa Fe.

Yesterday on the way home it started to rain a little. I had stopped by a store and while shopping someone screamed out "RAINBOW" and there they were not one but two. Click on the photo for a better look. Happy Sunday!

Rain Rain Almost Everyday!

This is how Spanish Market ended for me. Watching people walking through an afternoon rain from above in a gallery. Lately it seems like we have been getting rain everyday. Everything is so GREEN!

Four Generations

The Ortega family span four generations of woodcarvers. Ben Ortega and his family work with cottonwood, cedar and aspen. Ever year they have been in the same location at the Spanish market. The spot is great to see their Saints, biblical characters, angels and animals. Happy Weekend!

Holding St.Francis.

This Leonardo G. Salazar holding one of the Santos that he created out of wood. As you can see he carved this saint out of twisted cedar wood. I believe that it take someone special to find something as wonderful as this inside of something that most of us would just walk by without giving it a second look.

Colorful Saints

Here we have the work of Santera Marie Romero Cash. "An award winning Santero, she has received many awards in Spanish Market, Santa Fe, NM. She has been honored by the National Endowment for the Arts, the New Mexico Endowment for the Humanities and Women in the Arts."

Music From The Sky

This is Saint Cecilia, patron Saint of Musicians. She is here with her mariachis celebrating Santa Fe's 400th Anniversary. This is the work of Lorrie Garcia a Bultos and Retablos artist from Penasco, NM.

Welcome Back To Spanish Market.

This first place winner for unpainted Bultos is the work of Roberto E. Barela. A Woodcarver from Taos. It was great to have the chance to speak with Mr. Barela. He was proud of his award but was even more proud of another piece that I didn't have the chance to photograph. This would be a great conversation piece for any home.

Theme Day: Bright Colours

It's theme day once again here on City Daily Photo. This months theme is Bright Colours. While walking home from a concert on the plaza I was taken aback by this painting hanging at Legends of Santa Fe. A gallery in the downtown area. This painting entitled "Featherman" is the work of painter Jeff Ham.

Here is an excerpt from his biography on their website, "I paint what I love, people, animals and sometimes landscapes. I do my best to translate emotion and feelings into color and communicate my individual interpretation of each subject. The work is done quickly and in the moment to capture spontaneity and avoid over thinking and over working. As an artist I am at a genesis of learning to express myself in an honest and straightforward manner."
