Blue Icicle

There was something about the light of the day that gave this icicle a blue tint. We might see more soon. Snow is in the forecast.

Showing Off

While looking around one day I noticed the branches on this tree. It was almost like it was showing off amongst others that were around it.

Before It Melted

A shot of the Sangre De Cristo mountains before all the snow went away. The foreground is not all that appealing bu the mountains were beautiful not too long ago.

Bare, Except For...

It's the last of my holiday photos that I forgot to post. While walking down by Canyon Road I saw something shining in this tree from far away. I just had to find out what it was.

Theme Day: Best Photo of 2009

How do you do it? Choose your best of the year that is. Photographing this city that I love made for a year of good photos for me (at least I thought so). So I decided on the horses that I like to go see every now and then that live up in the Truchas area. I just might have to take them an apple this weekend. Coming Soon

The Second Street Brewery is a place here in town that serves up some good food and beer. Looks like they are planning a second location in the building that houses the Farmers Market. And it will be within walking distance!

No, it just modeling a winter hat. Chapare, located in our Sanbusco Market Center specializes in South American imports. Looking for something colorful, this is the place.

Walking to the Station

Just A Little Left

It's been pretty cold but we've had no new snow, yet. What little is left are the areas that don't get too much sun. We could use the moisture but its made for a nice winter so far. Hope everyone has a good week.

One of One

If your into sewing crafts One on One is a good place to visit. Located in the Railyard its a great spot for some great ideas.

Cold Enough

Unfortunately its been much to cold to sit outside. This photo to me is a glimpse of hope for the future when the warm days come and everyone will be out enjoying the warmth of the sun.

El Parasol

If you ever visit Santa Fe and you want a good breakfast burrito or some good chicken tacos you have to try El Parasol. The green chili has a bite but it will wake you up in the morning. I just might have to go there tomorrow! Have a great weekend everyone!

Just a Little

Our snow is almost gone. I do love the way it looks on Adobe walls though. We're supposed to get another storm on Thursday. We'll see.

Ice Fish

I posted these fish last summer. But a few weeks ago we went to the Winter Spanish Market and I had to shoot the fish again in the snow.

Come On In

For the last several weeks there has been a Flea Market next to the Farmers market building. This old wooden horse could always been seen at the entrance.

My Wish

Peace, one of the things I think most people wish for every year. Would'nt it be nice if it came true. I found this plate in Taos on Christmas Eve.

Finding your Way

I almost forgot to post a photo from the annual Winter Solstice celebration at the Children's Museum. I love the labyrinth made of faralitos that the volunteers work to put together for the celebration.

Theme Day: Changes

First and foremost I want to wish you all, peace, love and happiness in the new year.

Today is the first day of the year and its also Theme day here at the City Daily Photo and today's theme is "Changes." I can get all philosophical about how things can change with the a new year but this photo is simply about how this sidewalk changes as you walk along.

Where Will It Take You?

The New Year is coming and as I was walking by these tracks I was wondering where the the New Year will take me and all of us as photographers for that matter. Guadalupe at the Farmers Market

This painting hangs above the entrance of the Farmers Market building. Around Santa Fe she is everywhere.

Road to Taos II

Further up the highway it looked like there was more snowfall in this area. In the background is Truchas peak. The sun has been out for the last few days so I am sure most of the ground snow is gone.

I shot this one just as we were leaving Santa Fe. Thats the Sangre De Cristos in the backround. And let me tell you it was a cold one that day.

Christmas Eve at the Taos Plaza.

I shot this while in Taos on my way to the Taos Pueblo to witness the Procession of the Virgin Mary. I wish we were able to take photos, it really was something to see.

Christmas Evening

Yesterday before the day was over we traveled to Chimayo to see the lights on the Santuario. I had always seen postcards and yesterday was the first time I took my own photo.

Merry Christmas from Santa Fe

This stores window display really caught my eye as I was walking by. Could it have been the pink Jesus? Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas full of peace, love and happiness.

Christmas Eve

"Night of Las Posadas," this is the story of Mary and Joseph going from inn to inn trying to find a place to stay. The weekend before Christmas there is a reenactment of the Posadas through the plaza ending at the Palace of the Governor's where a manger scene is set up.

Winter Plaza

Its almost all gone but it's still a beautiful one to post just before Christmas. We are actually supposed to get more snow today in fact.

Decorating Downtown for Christmas.

When walking through the plaza you will see decorations along the portals and windows.

Santa on the Plaza

This Santa was not giving gifts way but raffling them off on the plaza. He was selling tickets to the Native Americans who were selling their artwork at the Palace of the Governor's. Beats shopping!

A Sculpture for Sunday

This beautiful piece was down the walkway from yesterdays post on the IAIA campus.

I love this sculpture and if I was'nt in such a hurry I would have a name of the sculpture and the name of the artist. This lovely piece is on the IAIA campus. Maybe if someone from here sees the post they'll comment on name of the piece and the artist.

Melting Away.

Our snow is going away and so far there is none in the forecast. I doubt we're going to have a White Christmas this year. Wishing everyone a good weekend.

Faralito Lit Path

This view was from the IAIA campus. I wish I could have seen it at night when the Farlitos were lit. I am sure it was beautiful.

New Construction

This new building is at the Institute of American Indian Art College. Not sure what it is going to be. We were there for the Holiday art sale this past weekend.

High Desert Winter

There is something beautiful about the desert in winter.

Mosaic

Outside of the Art department on the back side of the college is this mosaic. Looks Aztec to me but I could be wrong.

Peace Bug

It's what we might all need right now. Just a little Peace in the world.

While leaving the college the other day I noticed this unusual corner bench. Don't think I would sit there at the time. Maybe after the snow melts.

Just Yesterday Morning

Wine Anyone?

La Chiripada, one of my favorite New Mexico wineries. I have yet to have a bad glass of wine from here. This winery is locate north of Santa Fe in Dixon. They also have a tasting room in Taos. Cheers!

Fall comes to Black Mesa

Another of my favorite spots, in fact its on my way home from Abiquiu. I can't wait to shoot it after the next big snow fall.

Quiet Peace

There is some peaceful about a quiet road out in the country. It's easy to get lost in your thoughts.

Abiquiu Landscape

Near the Chama river you will find beautiful landscape such as this. I haven't been many places but I do know its one of my favorites.

Offering

This Buddha was sitting in an artist garden in Abiquiu. The garden had gone dormant for the season but there was still something peaceful and beautiful about it.

Theme Day: Waiting

And now the final theme day of the year. Our final theme day is "Waiting." I struggled with this one until I was awaken by the most unusual noise. I looked out and saw this Raven calling out to her mate. She waited until he flew by and they flew off into the morning sky. It was really nice to see.
