Riding to Market

I love this dog. Everytime I see this dog and his/her owner they are riding their bike around town. Yesterday they took a ride to the market.

Railyard Sign

The Railyard got some new signage on the water tower near the Farmers Market building. It was quite on the day I shot this but today it will be full of people doing their weekend shopping.

Inn and Spa at Loretto

A favorite of many travelers to our city. The Inn and Spa at Loretto is near downtown and close to the Loretto Chapel.

Old Furniture

Forget the new and modern. Here in Santa Fe old and rustic is the decor of choice. I found this near the front door of the Inn and Spa at Loretto. Comeback tomorrow to see this resort.

Spicy Handle

I love this Chili shaped handle on this gate. Recently the artist who makes these started selling them at an Artist market near our Farmers market. I'll have to get one for the future home. Another Monday, I hope everyone has a good week.

It's Easy Being Green

The color of this truck just happened to match the color of one of the chairs from yesterdays photo. I would love to have this truck.

Shreds of Light

This door is located on the side of the Lensic theatre in downtown Santa Fe. I was walking by one day and the light on the door just happened to catch my eye.

I have seen a few fence made this way but this is one of my favorites. Probably because of its aged look.

On the Lookout

Click on this one to see the look out. I love this goat planter. They were everywhere here when I first moved here and I had always planned on buying one. Needless to say I can't find them anywhere now.

Its only fitting to end with a shot of Guadalupe on a Sunday. This was a large mural all over the park. I could have shot more but did not want to over do it. I know too late.

This weekend we bought some flowers to plant from the Farmers Market. I thought I would like to start the week on a good note.

Peace

This old adobe church can be found at El Rancho De Los Golondrinas (Ranch of the Sparrows). This is a living history museum that dates from the early 1700s and was
an important stopping point along the famous Camino Real, the Royal Road from Mexico City to Santa Fe, New Mexico. You can check on more photos from the website at http://www.golondrinas.org/

It's both really. I do however think this looks alot better that just plain iron bars.

My Tulips

These are the only tulips in our yard that survived. The others came out but were wiped out by a sudden frost we had.

I love the way flowers look against the Coyote fencing. Flowers last so much longer here than they did when we lived in Phoenix. Right now the weather is perfect.

Can't Get Passed This One

The older the better but this is as far as you will get with this one.

Nice Wall, Great Gate

You going to have to click on this one for a good view. I love the gate but also the wall and the home. I can only imagine the garden behind that wall.

Am I Blue

Not living in this town. I do love the Blue color on this gate. It will be hard to decide on a color for a gate if we ever buy a house here. Maybe multicolor?

I love these old doors that people use for gates.

Can't Cross Here

This old bridge was probably passable in its early years but now I don't think I would even attempt it on foot. This bridge spans accross the Rio Grande on the way to and from Taos and Santa Fe.

My Peaceful Moments

There are places that move something within our souls. This tree and it's location along the freeway headed into Taos is one of those places for me. I don't know what it is but I look foward to seeing this spot everytime we go to Taos. Wishing you all some peace today.

Going My Way

Old trucks and cars can be found everywhere in New Mexico. The main reason for my trip to Taos was to see the Studio De Colores and the work of Ed Sandoval. Bare

I love the green of trees but sometimes there is something beautiful about bare trees. You can see their true shapes and the way they seem to reach for the sky.

Teepee Anyone?

This is one of my favorite place to stop at on the way into Taos. You can find a large assortment of Native American drums and you can even shop for a Teepee. I would love to have one in my yard just for a quite place of meditation.

In the Distance

As we were pulling away from the Rio Grande Gorge I was taken by the view of the Taos mountains. It's so much better in person.

Rio Grande Gorge

The Rio Grande Gorge runs from northwest to southeast of Taos, New Mexico, through the basalt flows of the Taos Plateau volcanic field. The gorge depth is 800 feet just south of the Gorge Bridge, which spans the gorge ten miles northwest of Taos.

Hotel La Fonda De Taos

Historic Taos Plaza dates back to this time and 1820 saw its first “La Fonda” (Spanish for “the Inn”) on the Plaza in the form of a mercantile store that also rented rooms. This historic location is where you will find the La Fonda de Taos today. The hotel is also home of the world-famous D.H. Lawrence “Forbidden Art” Collection. The paintings are on exhibit in their own gallery in the hotel.

San Francisco de Asis

As always whenever I go to Taos I have to stop by San Francisco de Asis. Located in the Rancho De Taos, this church has been the subject for many many artists from photographers to painters. Happy Mothers Day to all the moms out there!

A Good Read

This bookstore in the Taos Plaza is a great place to find a book. I love the small independent stores.

This is one of my favorite places to shop. At Home In Taos has a great variety of things for the home. I could spend hours looking through everything.

Mid Week Rest

The week is half over. Time to take a little break so you can coast through the rest of the week. This bench made of skis sits in front of a store on the Taos plaza. Hope your week is better than mine.

Cinco De Mayo

Happy Cinco De Mayo! We had our Cinco De Mayo Salsa Challange at work this past Friday. There was everything from Mild to Oh My God HOT! And yes I tasted every single one twice!

Black Cross

I traveled up to Taos recently and saw this cross. It sits in the park in the middle of the plaza. I like the black against the blue sky. It reminded me of Georgia O'keeffe's Black Cross painting.
