Harry's Roadhouse

Today after going out on the Pecos Studio Tour we stopped at a place not to far from my home called Harry's Roadhouse. This is a great place to grab a bite to eat when your in the mood for "I don't know what I want to eat." They have a great menu with a variety dishes to tempt your pallet.

BBQ Anyone?

I just love this truck! Peace, Love and BBQ, pretty much says it all if you like BBQ.
I have not tried this resturant yet but its up there on my list of places to eat. The resturant is called The Whole Hog Cafe. Hmmm maybe this weekend. Have a great weekend everyone, PEACE!

Mail from Space

Colorful Mail

There are quite a few different types of mailboxes here in Santa Fe for homes, apartments and condos. There are also quite a few of creative and colorful mailboxes like this one all over town too.

Outdoor decor

Cow skulls are a big part of the Southwest outdoor and at times indoor decor. Here in Santa Fe they can be found everywhere, in homes, in gardens and even in art work.

Garden Art?

It seems like no matter where you go around the outer areas of town you will find and old abandonded truck just sitting out in a yard. Then there are quite a few that running around town beautifully painted and cared for. It would be nice to have some time to get one and fix it up. Someday.

Who are you?

While out on the Art tour this weekend I pulled over to park near a gallery and this guy just walked right up to me. He probably thought I was carrying something good to eat.

High Road Art Tour

This weekend is the High Road Art Tour. The High Road is one of the roads that leads from Santa Fe to Taos. There are 53 galleries most of which you have to drive to. Today we only got through 29. Good thing its a two weekend tour. This is the Castillo gallery in Truchas, it has some great sculpture both in wood and metal.

Weekend Beer?

Its the weekend. Time to relax, have fun, enjoy ones friends or just sit back and enjoy a beer. This sign is hanging on the patio at the Cowgirl grill. Funny I didn't notice it the first time I was there.

Need Direction?

This sign is on the road to and from the ski basin. As you can see if you click on the photo someone stuck a snowboarding sticker on the sign. Someone also posted a note stating that they lost their iPod, a recent birthday gift. I hope they found it.

Aspens

I love the look of the Aspen trees when shot in Black and White. Looking at this photo really makes me think about what we are doing to our planet. Beauty like this does not come to us very easily.

Can you hear it?

After a long hike we found this quiet little creek and sat for awhile just listening to the sound of the water. Talk about peaceful.

Quiet Time

The Santa Fe National Forest is approximately 12 miles north of my home. I decided to spend a little time with Mother Nature and just get lost in my thoughts. I got quite a few really good pictures. I hope you enjoy them. Just imagine the sound of the wind and little animals scurrying around.

Hungry?

This weekend we thought we would try a new resturant and we ended up at The Cowgirl BBQ and Western Grill. This is a great place with a nice patio if your in the mood to eat outdoors. The weather was good and the food was excellent.

Flowers and Coffee

Someones knocking

While exploring the neighborhood the other day I came across this painting on someones door. Could it be that they are expecting Jesus? Maybe they are wanting to let him know that he can stop by at anytime.

Fresh Flowers anyone?

The colors are abound here at the Farmers market. There is so much to tempt you. From farm fresh veggies to beautiful flowers like these. Happy Friday everyone!

Peppers

At our Farmers market there are peppers of every color. Not to mention they taste very good too.

Future Farmers

These guys were busy talking to this customer about the produce that they were selling at the Farmers Market. Today they are selling in the future they will probably be the farmers.

Historical/Hysterical Parade

Later in the day on Sunday afternoon there was the Historical/Hysterical Parade. It included Don Deigo Vargas and his men as well alot of people from the community. This by far was my favorite. Just a bunch of people wishing love and peace to everyone.

La Conquistadora

Today to end the Fiestas there was a procession of La Conquistadora or Our Lady of Peace. Story has it that this is the oldest known Marian statue in the "New World". She was once stolen in the 70's but was returned to her place of honor in the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi. It is said that Don Diego de Vargas prayed to her prior to retaking Santa Fe from the Pueblo Indians.

Fiesta Music

Today I went in the plaza specifically to listen to Mariachi Buenaventura. They are Santa Fe's first and only all female Mariachi group. These young women were remarkable. They range from 15yrs old to somewhere in their twenties. Wish I had a video recorder so that all of you could hear some great music.

Don Deigo de Vargas

Today was the re-enactment of when Don Deigo de Vargas rode into Santa Fe to reclaim the city from the Pueblo Indians on behalf of the king of Spain. It is part of the week long Fiesta celebration here in Santa Fe.

Zozobra

Or "Old Man Gloom" as they refer to him. This 49ft puppet is burned to rid the people of bad things that may have happened in the past year. It was inspired by a similar ritual of the Yaqui indians of Mexico. The residents of Santa Fe are invited to write they gloomy thoughts and they are burned with old man gloom at dusk. Bluebird

This tile installation is what I see every morning as I walk thru my living room. It is part of the wall that surrounds our front yard. It always makes me smile when I see it in the morning.

Blues Music Anyone?

Fatso WilLees is a local Blues music club here in Santa Fe. I have not been in yet but while passing I have heard some good Blues coming from inside.

Antiques Anyone?

Double Take is a great place to find old Western stuff from funiture to Cowboy boots and clothing. There is also a second part to this store that sells funiture and stuff on consignment. I love the mural thats painted at the entrance.

Bear Hug

This bear sculpture is out in front of one of the downtown galleries. If you click on the photo and look closely at the bear on the right you will see a bee on his/her nose.

No Sunday Delivery

There are so many painted mailboxes here in the city. I would like to think that people who paint their mailboxes are cheerful people or just artistic. I think I will opt for cheerful.

Flowers everywhere

There are so many flowers here and it makes me feel like a kid seeing them for the first time. In Phoenix these would not survive the heat. I love the horse sculpture next to them too. Trust me there will be more flower photos coming.
