3 Sisters

At least that is what I call these three aspens. These three sit just off of a meadow along the Alamos Vista Trail.

Ristras

Recently while walking past the convention center I noticed these Red Chile Ristras that they hung. I am guessing it was for the holidays. I think they add a nice touch of color.

Thankful

I am thankful for many things. Most of all I am thankful that I was loved by someone so wonderful. Some people never find that in life and for the time I had I am and always will be forever gratetful. Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving for those who celebrate.

Canyon Road Paint Out XVII

A few of you know that I am fond of squirrels. I could not resist taking a shot of this artist sculpting this little squirrel with an acorn. The piece is actually going to be added to a much larger piece.
Happy Friday everyone!

Canyon Road Paint Out XVI

I thought I would capture another form of artwork while on the paint out. The building that the two women are walking in front of is a restaurant, Geronimo. No I haven't been, it's a little out of my price range.

Canyon Road Paint Out X

One of my favorite artists is Nacona Burgess (standing here in front of his painting). He is Comanche from Lawton Oklahoma but has lived in many place including Santa Fe. He is the great-great gandson of Chief Quanah Parker. You can read more about him and see more of his work here.

Canyon Road Paint Out VIII

One of my favorite artist on the at the Paint Out. I love oil pastels and this artist does such an amazing job with them. He is actually drawing the same building as he did in 2013 and as you will see here it's a little different.

Theme Day: Landmark

Another theme day has arrived. This month's theme is "Landmarks." We have quite a few here in the "City Different" and I chose the La Fonda Hotel. It opened in 1922 and in 1925, the hotel was purchased by the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad and operated as one of the famed Harvey Houses. This historic landmark is a beautiful example of Pueblo-style architecture and features thick wood beams, latilla ceilings and carved corbels. Special touches such as hand-crafted chandeliers, tin and copper lighting fixtures, and colorful tiles add character and charm.
