Old Ford

An oldie but a goodie. I caught this while out and about this weekend. It still ran but needed a little TLC. I would love to have one like this.

Inn and Spa at Loretto

If you ever wanted to treat yourself to a wonderful place to stay when visiting Santa Fe you have to try the Inn and Spa at Loretto. I caught this yesterday while the sun was setting and there was a wonderful glow at the entrance. Good thing I was a passenger instead of driving. Have a great week everyone.

Winter Day On The Plaza

It was a little chilly yesterday but there were quite a few people out on the plaza yesterday. I shot this on my way to the Souper Bowl. The Souper Bowl is an event that raises money for The Food Depot. They provide food and household products to needy citizens and households in the northern part of our state. There were 30 restaurants that competed for the best in several categories including best cream soup, best seafood, best vegetarian, most savory and the best. It was so wonderful to see so many people there supporting this much needed charity.

Reflections Past

I almost forgot about this shot from last Fall. I took this at an artist studio in Abiquiu. She creates these great mirrors out of vintage windows.

Early Morning Sky

Earlier this week we were supposed to get snow. Unfortunately the storm passed us by but I was able to capture this wonderful sky just as I got up. Good thing my camera was near by. Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Road Guard

As we left Ghost Ranch we ran into this little fellow and a few of his friends walking along the road. I didn't have an apple so he just gave me that keep moving mister look.
Next time I will come prepared.

Standing On The Edge

As you can see the view from the edge is breathtaking and so was the climb for that matter. It would be great to stand on that rock for a shot. Then the thought hit me, how in the heck would you get down? Anyone have a helicopter?

Snow and Desert

This is not a combination that most people think about when they think of New Mexico. We are however at at 7500 ft in elevation so we do get our fair share as you have seen in past post. I love the look of the two in this shot. The smell of the Juniper in the cold was amazing.

My Dream

This is a view of the Perdernal (made famous by Georgia O'Keeffe's paintings) as we were coming down off our Chimney Rock hike. After she passed away her ashes were spread on the top of the mountain. And here is the meaning of my title. If you look to the left you will see Abiquiu Lake. Then just to right of that lone branch in the middle of the shot is where I own 5 acres of land. My dream is that one day I will build a small vacation home on this land with large window that will face the Perdernal.

One another note I did play with "Picnik" after reading a few other blogs and tried darkening the edges a little. It's a fun little too and free right now since they are closing the site in April.

One Day

When I say this little tree in the middle of all of these trees I was reminded of being a kid and thinking "One day I will be as big as you." The things that go through your mind when your out on a hike.

Living On The Edge

When I reached the top I caught sight of this couple sitting on the edge and taking in the view. It was so amazing to see the valley below us and just enjoying the warmth of the sun. Wishing you all a weekend full of fun.

Sweet Eyes

In fact her eyes were made out of Jelly Lifesavers candy. I think she was some kind of activist too, check out her peace gloves. Well at least she was fighting the good fight spreading peace and love. I found her on one of my snowshoeing hikes.

Ghost Ranch

This is part of the grounds and the mountains surrounding it. If you checked out the link from Monday's post you might have checked out some of the classes and retreats held there. I would love to take a painting class there one day.

Wiped Out.

When we first arrived at the trail entrance I saw these two just kicking back after some snow boarding. They might have been waiting for a ride too. The weekend is over and I am sure by mid-day I will be wishing I was back out here again.

Chimney Rock

Yesterday I spent the day at Ghost Ranch. The ranch was made famous by Georgia O'Keeffe who owned a home nearby. I love being there knowing that she walked around here and painted many of her famous landscapes all around. For more on the history of Ghost Ranch just click here.

Over the next week I will be sharing some more snow hike photos and more from our Ghost Ranch hike. Oh and yes I made it all the way to the top.

Reflection and Bad Cowgirls

I can think of a few ladies who would love this shopping bag. I found it hanging at a local shop downtown. Wishing you all a great weekend. As for me it's a three day weekend for me! Time to go out and capture some shots.

Native Pup

I could not resist taking a photo of this little guy. He sits outside of a gallery on Canyon Road. Hang on it's almost Friday!!!

Why?

Someone certainly took alot of time to carve up this tree. In my opinion I would prefer that they get a tattoo and leave the poor trees alone. I came across this during a hike a few weekends past.

A Little Patch

Even though most of our snow in the city is gone there are still little patches to be found in some tucked away places. I couldn't resist this shot when I saw the shadow of the little tree.

Look Out Below!

That's just what a heard just before this guy passed me up on the trail. It's Monday and I hope the week flies by just like this guy did when flew right by me. Have a good start to your week!

Silence

“Joy in looking and comprehending is nature's most beautiful gift.” Albert Einstein

We no longer have any snow in the city but the mountains still have plenty. This shot is from our hike.

Time for a Party!

This old caboose sits pretty close to my home in the railyard district. One day these wheatpaste photos appeared out of the blue. Must have happened while I was at work.

Speaking of parties, our beautiful state of New Mexico turned 100 years old yesterday. There was a big Centennial black tie ball here in town, no I did not attend. It was a little out of my price range. So today I will celebrate our states 100 years by taking a hike!

Evening Reflection

Across the street from yesterdays post is the LewAllen Galleries. I love the chocolate brown color of the building and while walking around I caught this reflection in one of their windows. Wishing you all a happy and fun weekend!

Evening Shadow

I caught this on my way home the other day. This time of day creates some really great shadows.

Snowflake

There are still some decorations hanging around town. I caught this while running an errand in the downtown area.

Skull and Bow

Before the visit to the Taos Ski Valley I did have to do a little window shopping on the plaza. While walking past this leather shop I caught sight of this skull with it's red bow. How festive!

Taos Snowflake

I spent an early New Years Eve in the Taos Ski Valley. They had a Torchlight parade down one of the ski slopes followed by a fireworks show. This is the area where some of the ski shops and a few of the lodges are.

Theme Day: Photo of the Year 2011

It's the first of the month as well as the first of the year. So that means it is Theme Day here at City Daily Photo. The theme is Photo of the Year for 2011 and I choose the photo of the San Francisco de Asis Misson Church in Taos that I posted in March of last year.

Treat yourself and check out of the best of 2011 by some wonderful photographers:
