I love old wooden screen doors. They bring back fond memories of my grandparents house and the "Kids don't slam the door" comment. I found this at a gallery/coffee shop.
oh, we had one on the old farmhouse where i spent my first 13 yrs... the dog chewed the corner off in an attempt to get inside during a thunderstorm. and yes, it had a great 'slam'. :)
Yes I too remember the screen door at my grandmother's home. The screen was dirty and saggy with always a dead fly or two smashed against it. The door never slammed shut as the spring was broke or it didn't even have one. The door remained at whatever position it was left at. Grandma's house was different and I loved her and going there to stay for the weekend.
Oh, you knew it was summer the first time you heard that "don't slam the screen!" These are sweet reminders of days gone by. I always loved the country grocery stores that had the metal signs from Sunbeam or Wonder bread.
Yes...that distinct squeak when you opened and closed it, that bell that would ring at the corner grocery store when you walked in. Screen doors are so different these days. You can still find custom ones but you have to pay the price for one.
I like old wood doors too. We use to have one. You are so right, they can be very noisy. But they are soon if not already one of those things we don't see much on our homes anymore. You found some very interesting things.
Oh me too! I rarely see screen doors where we live, if ever... it is something I miss.

Gosh, I haven't heard that sentence in ages! Now I hear it when grandfather chastises the grandkids when they visit.
