Around this time of year I have seen skulls with Santa hats around town. This the first time I came across one lit up like this. I thought it was cool but it doesn't instill that holiday feeling for me but hey to each his own.
The use of skulls in New Mexican and Mexican culture is something that just leaves me kind of speechless. It's hard to put into words the feeling I get. I guess you have to grow up with the whole thing, but it sure gives me a feeling of being "other." See--I can't even explain it!
Thank you for this photo. It captures the season perfectly. In this case for sure a picture tells way more than words could ever do so.
Pretty picture though!
ReplyDeleteHa! My dad hangs ornaments and lights on deer antlers mounted in his living room. ;) Kind of morbid, but pourquoi pas?
ReplyDeleteoh, the shot is very good, and provocatoring too
ReplyDeleteI like it. Santa Fe style
ReplyDeleteThat is funny! I've not seen anything like it. Santa hats on skulls, too, heh? Looks more like a celebration of the day of the dead...or something.
ReplyDeleteBut, like you say, to each his own...
Have a great day and I'm glad you liked the poem...nice photo, too, don't you think? :-)
This is a first for me either! Quite strange but surely original!

Seems more appropriate for Halloween.
ReplyDeleteHmmm. I don't think Georgia O'Keefe painted this particular skull.
ReplyDeleteFunny shot Randy!
ReplyDeleteTotally unexpected! ;-)
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day Randy!
I'm with you on this, Randy.
ReplyDeleteI can't really get into that!
ReplyDeleteYikes, though I like it, I certainly wouldn't want to have it as a Christmas decoration either!
ReplyDeleteTruly unconventional, that's why I like it! Great find.
ReplyDeleteyes I agree it doesn't exude a Charlie Brown Christmas vibe but it's festive in it's own (Day of the Dead) sort of way
ReplyDeleteWell, it certainly works as a conversation starter : )
ReplyDeleteSeems more like a Halloween thing to me.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot!
