It's Your Choice!

While walking past Ortega's on the Plaza this jewelry display caught my attention. Arizona is currently the most important producer of turquoise by value, but New Mexico is thought to be the oldest of the mines in the U.S. Prior to the 1920's New Mexico was the largest producer. Of all the mines my favorite comes from the Sleeping Beauty mine in Globe Arizona.

  4. Ortegas is a wonderful shop and the jewelry is spectacular. Some of the regular designers that the shop sells are artists without parallel. Great display, Randy.

  10. I used to have a turquoise bolo tie when we lived in Arizona. I think I lost it along the way somewhere. Maybe when passing through New Mexico. Could you check around?

    Heh, heh!

  13. I always like the way that jewelry looks. Although I don't wear any jewelry myself, except my wedding ring.

  14. Beautiful pieces. Turquoise is my favorite (and my birthstone) and when handcrafted into jewelry...even better.

  15. I never tire of turquoise, these pieces are beautiful. And the first thing I thought of when I saw them was whether they stilled mined it in state. I'm glad that it is.
